Who can do a good tune on this gun and what do the prices of the tune and what does the tune consist of ?

Hi RJ, Buy it, de-ping it, shoot it, tune it, shoot it, and love it! 😀 The tuning process is not difficult and much faster than sending it off. Do you have a chronograph? A chronograph would pay for itself in tis situation. Mine picked up 100 fps with the 31 grain Kodiaks! 😀 You could purchase #3 buckshot, (0.250″ diameter), from Midwayusa.com for your tuning ammo…think much less expensive.
The de-pinger is a 2″ long piece if 1 1/2″ diameter vinyl tubing with 1/4″ wall thickness purchased at Home Depot for $5. There is a youtube video on how to do it.
There is only one cap screw that holds the action to the stock. There is a metering screw that I adjusted first. Then I adjusted the hammer strike pressure. It takes time and air…lots of air. But it is a fun process.

Oh ya, there is a clothes pin looking spring in the trigger group that is easily removed that will yield that match grade trigger that Benjamin braggs about. There is a video on that too. Ask me questions if you like. I am happy to share what I have learned.

is the valve anything like the 2240
rj, the .25cal Marauders are nothing like the .22cal…. They have Green
Mountain Barrels, not the crap they have on the .22
Every one I have seen a review on has been a laser out of the box shooting
JSB kings at 850FPS…Buy it, shoot it, and then decide whether to have a
tune done…

I was one of the first guys to solicit Greg to work on my gun. I sent it to him on the advice of Bruce Dodson and Steve in CT from the Yellow. My turn-around time was one month. Can you imagine that now?!? 😉
Anyway, the reason I sent it to him was because my Marauder shot all pellets very very poorly. The best group I could get was 1″ @ 20 yards with Kodiaks. Ugh!
Greg does good work. But, looking back, I would have done things very differently. After all, when all was said and done, the darn thing wound up costing me almost as much as if I had simply purchased a AA410 from the very start. And THAT is exactly what I recommend to anyone thinking of buying a Marauder with a budget of $1000 – buy the AA.
If you only have $400, then yes, buy the Marauder. And if it shoots like crap, send it back to Crosman for a replacement. Repeat this process until you get a good one. Do not pour $100 of lead down the barrel before you realize it isn’t your fault. Just get the Strait Shooters pellet sampler to see which one it likes. If it hates all in that sampler, you have a gun with a bad barrel.
Darn Marauders can be money sinks if you aren’t smart about it. I wasn’t. And I’m on a quest to make sure others aren’t as dumb as me. 😆

Yes Greg Davis does great work…but if you are capable of tuning yourself, go to A Teams tuning page to learn some self tuning techniques. I ended up tuning my own .22 MROD to 38 fpe max. Honestly it is fun but be warned you will go through some serious lead. Can’t even recall how many shots I sent over the crony while trying to find that balance between shot count and energy. Ultimately, I tuned it down to 32 fpe for a few more shots.
I hear the .25 “mountain” barrels are very accurate and I hear they are good shooters from the get go. I personally would just buy it and shoot it for awhile, then if I wanted it tuned in the future I would consider my options at that moment in time.
Actually, I think his price for the tune is very reasonable. I can’t
remember what the exact prices are ( it’s been several months since
I checked so they may have changed). The wait time though is
outrageous. You will be lucky to get it in 6 months unless he has
some help now. I heard that he was taking on a partner, but I don’t
know where that stands now.
I have a Greg Davis tuned .22 cal Marauder on order. I bought a new one with the full tune, the longer LW barrel, a shroud extension and the air tube extension. I think that the total cost was around $800.
I ordered it the middle of December. It will get here someday, I suspose.
My new .25 cal long version Matador is taking up all of my free time right now! 😆
I’ve read MANY testimonials that this Greg Davis is THE MAN..I’ve also read that it’s very expensive, and wait times of 6-8 months are the norm 😯 😯 I have no idea if any of it’s true..just what I’ve read… the “CROSMAN/BENJAMIN PCP” forum on network 54 is where ya need to go…LOTS of discussion about the guy’s work, reputation, etc..hope this helps.
