Quick review of EDgun multishot magazine

I just added a multishot magazine to my Edgun Matador. Here are a few quick impressions.

The unit looks very well made, crisp lines and nice finish. There are two sections, the “holder” that has to be fixed to the barrel in front of the loading port, and the magazine itself, which slides down the holder and attaches to the top of the loading port with a magnet.

To install the holder, you need to disassemble the action enough to slip the clamping area of the holder onto the front of the barrel. It isn’t hard once you have done it a couple times, but it might be a bit intimidating if you have never taken the action apart before.

Once installed, it seems to work quite well. It has a nice crisp feel when you are turning the magazine (it is completely manual), and I did not have any misloads or problems in the 30 or so shots i took with it.

It may affect your cheek weld; it does stick up from the loading port, and if you usually have your face much forward of the loading port, it may interfere. At this point, I haven’t decided if I like it or not: on the plus side, it gives me a better feel for exactly where I am because it nests in my cheek bone and i think it will make my position more consistent. On the down side, the edges are sharp enough that if I am moving around at all, or shooting for a long time, I think it’s going to be uncomfortable.

I do think it’s going to be a big plus for hunting. I can click the magazine around a lot faster than getting a pellet out and putting it in by hand, especially if it is cold and I’m wearing light gloves.
