4500 psi tank?
If a carbon 4500 psi tank is over the 15 year mark can we still use it for air fills? I’m asking because I have a guy saying yes trying to sell me one I just want to know if he is telling me the truth. Thanks all

well, i bought a shoebox yesterday so now i can fill a tank to 4500psi and those on ebay look like the most bang for the buck. guess i will go ahead and order one. now i have an 80 cf scuba tank bought new and only refilled once. anybody in central Ca. interested? if i can’t sell it, i will keep it and use as part of a cascade system with the carbon fiber bottle.
It’s a 30 minute 44cf. carbon tank.
This is a continuation of the For Sale thread we have going. Wanted to move over here so we don’t bump guys off the first page.
What size is it?
larryhd,
I got the tank today, here are some pictures.

be4meliz,
Looking forward to hearing how the two you bought work out for you. I don’t know how long it will be before I can get my tank hydro’d. Let us know as soon as you get yours tested and I will do the same.
It is very cool and convienent to have your own compressor. You said that there wasn’t anyplace that could fill to 4500psi. Sports Chalet fills to 4500psi, but maybe there isn’t one close to you.
Honestly, if all you do is hunt, and not too much, a 3000psi tank will work out OK, especially if you only fill to 2700psi. I lived like that for 2 1/2 years. It works. In any event, welcome to the dark side and TAG. You are a great addition to the forum. I hope that you enjoy it here. 😀
there are no Sports Chalets around here and the only 2 scuba shops can only fill to 3500 psi. they will fill my 3000psi scuba tank to 3300, so i end up getting about 4-5 full 3000 psi fills and a few more smaller fills before the tank needs a recharge. right now at least that is well over a month’s shooting and satisfy my needs. however, i will probably buy a shoebox compressor in the not too distant future just to save the 30 mile drive into town to the scuba shop.
i lived quite happily with just my hand pump till i started modding my tss then i found a 60cf scuba tank and was good then i bought my 909s and i had to get a second 80cf scuba tank (still couldn’t keep up with the air demands) and finaly got an scba tank from newbie and am loving it…..Greg
Your going to shoot more…and more! You have started on a journey to the dark side. In nthe begining, TSS power and accuracy is great, but then you discover the “Other Guns” section. It snowballs and one day you find yourself with a collection like Rob’s. 😯 You will say to yourself, “where did all of these come from?” Or not. 😀

can’t really see the wisdom of spending $3500( by the time your factor in shipping) to fill an air rifle that i shoot maybe 250 rounds( 5-6 refills) a month. the vast majority of shooting i do is hunting and i don’t refill my Talon SS that often.
That’s not your only option! Perhaps a real compressor is in your future. Kidde? Hamworthy? Check out this website…Jim Shelden is the man; Mr. Compressor:

i have wanted a 4500 psi tank but absolutely nowhere locally can or will fill them, including the fire stations and industrial compressed gas outlets. guess i’ll have to stick with a 3000psi scuba tank with 10% overfill! shoebox compressor is my only other option and i can’t seem to get registered properly ( VERY long story) on their damn website to get in line for one.
Hey kid, have I got a deal for you! I have this tank that was used by an elderly fireman, only went on runs on Sunday. He had emphysema, took real shallow breaths when he used it, sat in the truck most of the time and watched the other guys work the fire.
15 years? What the fuck does the Federal Government know about safety? Nothing! I tell you this thing will last your lifetime, trust me. You can go to my cousin BillyBob to get it filled, he doesn’t take kindly to any DOT telling him what he can do. He should be out of jail next week.
You do have cash, right? This is a cash and carry deal at these prices, no paperwork to clutter things up. Don’t want big brother sticking his nose in my affairs! Tell all your buddies, I have a garage full of these things.
😆 😆 😆

Mike,
They sell them as lamps and wind chimes on Ebay. Butt-ugly in both cases, an outside flower vase would be better.
Larryhd,
If you want a tank, here is a 30 min. tank with 7 years left, needs hydro, $119.95 shipped. (Edit) Re-listed 8-20

This is the third time he listed these, down to 10 left. He has others for sale.
At least one guy on the Yellow forum has purchased from him.

Edit: I bought one, should be here Monday 8-23

Makes for a different flower vase. That’s about it! 😉 😆
Now, If you have your own compressor. Humm. “IF” its still in super good shape. Still risky though. I would “NOT” use it! 😯

I was looking for a carbon fiber 88 cf tank to cascade my exiting one. My 88 cf tank seem to be smaller and smaller everytime I started to shoot 😆
