Q:

New AF Talon 2 stage Triger "PCT AR1 model"

English it´s not my native language, so I´ll try to do my best…

The AF Talon is a great rifles,it´s ideal for hunting and its one of those rifles I ´ll never sell, but for me it has has two issues to improve : A) ergonomics, that thanks to my friend JuanGV , the Argentine genius behind the “el codo” this issue has been solved, and B) the trigger …

Some time ago I started thinking, drawing and trying and finally I´m introducing you the trigger “PCT AR1 model”, a two stages adjustable trigger. My AF original trigger was 14,5 oz and now only 2 oz! (*)

You can see pictures off the process below .

This is the original AF Talon trigger system

This is the new complete system with the ” PCT Model AR1” Trigger

As you can see, with the leverage effect I´ve try to make a longer (&2 stage) travel and lighter system.

(*) FYI : 2oz it’s the minimal weight under tests , for sure maybe a little ligth… I play with differents springs, and made the tests with the lighter one, trying to feel a clear second stage, you can add weight to the system just adding stronger one.
As you can see in the pics below ,the springs 1 and 2 are the originals ones, making the system safety, the #3 is the one you can mod to increase decrease the weight

The new system.

Milling the AF frame to 4.5 mm for the new trigger.

Drilling the frame for the trigger

The two allens screws which moves the two stage system.

Finished rifle.
Here using low rings, but thinking how to decrease the scope closer to the frame….

whath we are talking about…before & after!

For those who wants more details to implement I’ll be uploading more pictures and measures during the nexts weeks (just ask you: pls keep the original name;))

Regards.

I´ve changed the spring you can see in the first pics (#3) for a stronger one,the AF original (like the # 1 & 2 )and cut it , can´t remember now but I think was 7 mm or .275 inch , now the trigger weight its 5,5 Oz.

😯 😀 😀 😀

Nice trigger design! How’s the trigger working for you?

looks like this guy and his friend are the Argentinian equivalent of tony, MAC, WOK, etc. they are doing some really nice work-too bad its 10,000 miles away and unobtainable. as an aside, does anyone know of a simple trigger mod that doesn’t require shipping your gun off and waiting weeks? in other words, a drop- in part or simple file/ polish project like the GRTIII trigger available from charliedatuna for springers?

thanks all !

Dave, I´ve seen your post ,I´m trying to find an alternative ,I´m not ready for that major surgery.:(

bottle/valve adapter?? Who, what ,when, where, and how???

Hopefully one of our in house machinist’s will be able to make those triggers available (wok 😉 ) Jus sayin 😆

That piece on the rifle in the picture above with the near flush mount pressure gauge (I’m not sure if it is a regulator as well??) I think it was a one off design 😯

Couldnt be made available unless you sent in your gun. You need the wider stock to fit in the adjustment screws and for that you have to mill out the frame.

I don’t know about you guys…but I don’t like being teased. I feel kind of like a lion in a cage and I’m being prodded with broom handles.

I got kind of dissapointed when I saw the first bottle/valve mod from this camp but I never saw any of them available to any one else. Maybe I’m just jealous…but I sure wish these mods would be made available somehow????

Great job!

For a mod to bring the scope closer to the bore, see my topic in the mods machinist section about removing the top rail, I did that by milling in a lathe just like you

Looks good

Dave
