Fuck red dots
I mounted a red dot scope. A center point red dot from wal mart. I wasnt expecting much. but i tried to sight it in on my rws 34 and i would have better accuracy with bird shot. i could group at all. I tightened all the screws but to no avail. What could be wrong with this combination.

my buddy has one on his ruger MKII pistol and it is damn accurate
The problem is the SPRINGER itself and not so much the RED DOT. I have a 5-6 year old TASCO (cheap but damned accurate) red dot on my Crosman 2240 and i can pluck things out to 50 yrds even though the gun makes only 10-11 FPE. That scope has been very good to me over the years and will probably continue to do so for more years to come cause the gun has no recoil. A co2 or PCP gun has no forward and rearward recoil which is exactly what breaks the scopes when you mount them to a springer. A red dot is the last scope i would ever put on a springer. The recoil vibrations from a springer is said to be worse than a POWDER BURNER cause the movement is hard rearward then suddenly hard forward plus a springer simply VIBRATES all to shit. They even break GOOD high dollars scopes.
I wonder if your red dot is suffering the same fate.
You could try putting the RD on another gun like a PCP and see if it groups any better.
They suffer from parrallax and the damn dot is way bigger then the pellet. It is like shooing and hoping it hits somewhere in the big red circle.
I have learned to use a red dot pretty good, but it took a lot of time to get use to. You have to visually get the dot dead center of the optic to be accurate. I think if there were a fixed cross hair incorporated in the sights it would be easier to center the dot and would make them more constantly accurate.
I think parallax is what kills them. We had one a lot like that and just by moving your head around on the stock you could see the dot move inches around the target. Huge movements with just a little head wiggle. You can get decent accuracy, just have to put your head in the EXACT same place.
Or get a better dot. 😀

What range were you shooting at? Try 50-100 yards. You may get better results. Centerfire scopes with set parallax are usually set between 50-150 yards. I’d imagine a dot is set on the lower end of that.

for 88 bucks it cant be that bad
i mean heck a cheap 1000 MOA dot tasco at walmart that weighs 88 lbs it 1/2 that cost
so if its only soso im happy lol
