Gamo has owned BSA for several years now….
It’s my understanding, however, that Gamo had been leaving BSA alone to do their thing without interference until recently…and the R10 is the result of Gamo’s insistence on being a part of the manufacturing process. Parts and guns that were once made in Birmingham are now made ….somewhere?
Seems that BSA is going the way of Webley.
Still, I’d love to take a crack at a non FAC R10. Sexy gun and should get lots of shots, I think around 180 regged shots.

Was a great company. I won’t be touching any of the new stuff as of now. Gamo indeed, what a fucking shambles they are, turn a great company into their own stinking pile of half baked shoody quality crap.
Shame on them, think they are gonna palm off their rubbish under the fine name and reputation of BSA. How long ago did they take over, and already they have ruined the name .

I have a bad feeling about BSA barrels since GAMO took over…. You might
have seen the last of the good stuff. Last I talked to someone about a barrel,
they said it had a powder coating instead of bluing…… That just ain’t right.

Seems to be mostly poor finishing/clean up after the machine work. Mostly air leaks caused by tiny bits of swarfe in the regs… Once the reg is stripped down and clean properly, they seem ok….. Not that you should have to do that on a big money air rifle. What the fuck were BSA thinking?? A lot of their good rep out the window….
I drooled over the R10 for a long time, but when I read the posts on the BSA Owners forum, the folks on the other side of the pond were having issues with them.
Seems they got them mostly sorted there, but it appears that they sent all the shitty ones to the US.
Shame because it’s really a great looking gun. I was hoping to get the non FAC version in .177. Hopefully, one day they’ll get it squared away.
Probably the best way to get the “real” story would be to use the link I posted and see what actual owners of the gun have to say about it…..GAZILLIONS of BSA rifles in use in the country where they’re made..More apt to get accurate feedback 🙂 🙂
They were shit, but a lot of the guys here are now saying they have sorted it out. Just make sure you get a recently built one, not one of the older nails…..
Saw – I tell ya what. Ive been eyeing those for a good while now, and I think I have to have one (like all other airguns). Ive been reading alot of things about them more of it bad than good, but then again you cant believe everything you read. Alot of guys seemed to be disappointed with the finish and such??? Some opened the box and basically sent it back without even shooting it! I will more than likely purchase mine from AoA – I will ask them to fill it – shoot it and let it sit for a day or two – then shoot it again – before they ship it to me- my object is to keep it and not return it. In addition, from what I am understanding the shroud has no baffles and the gun is loud, that means a 7″ moderator will make the gun some 50″ long. On top of that the actual barrel is not threaded, so cutting the shrouds back wont do much good unless you go the slip on route for a moderator. With that being said – I still want one – if the gun holds air and regulator is doing its job – I say it will be one accurate rifle. Hey after all I am one of the guys that bought and still owns a Smooth Twist barreled FX Royale.
There are a bunch of them out there with real quality control problems. There was a thread about them on the Yellow a while ago.

That’s too bad. I am pleased that Mam talked me into the Sportsman HV in .22 caliber. I don’t shoot it much, but it sure shoots straight. I have bagged several critters with it and they all dropped like rocks. Great air rifle. Thanks Mam. 😀
