up grade power on spring gun??
can I add more power if I put a few washers in the back of my original spring?

but the trick is to do so without adding harshness to the gun.
Also bear in mind that spring alone does not create power in these guns. If you have an out of round compression chamber which is common for some of the 97’s or you could have a burnt piston seal.
Regardless, we are pissing in the wind here without knowing where you are now and a bit more details on your gun….but as a rule, yes, adding preload will add power, but not as much as you might think. Too much preload and the gun will not cock.
first spring is ox ptfe, that i have use since 2006, the length has been reduced.
second spring is original that I have use since the gun is new at 1998, I wonder that original spring is still good in the shape and long.
first guide is nylon that come with ox spring
second guide is original

Now I has assembly it again, i re install my originall hw spring and add with 3 mm thick washer.
now check at the my chrony the shoot is reach 750-760fps (rws super dome)but it is still not stable may can be higher.
but compare with my ox spring it can be reach to 820fps (rws super dome)
the POSITIVE using original spring is smooth cocking, smooth shooting, and I hope can obtain very good grouping.
next I will send the grouping pictures.
What is it shooting at now? You can often minimally increase power on a springer by adding preload, or a Vortek or Macarri kit….

It will give more load on the spring which should give you a little more power but…
