Marauder and Talons
Well now that the Marauder craze has slowed down some we are seeing some feed back from those who have bought them.
While I think the Marauder seems to be a pretty nice gun I have to say…HOLY SHIT… there are a lot of them that have problems. I am reading report after report of problems even after they come back from being tuned.
Airforce had their growing pains for sure but Crosman has been making guns for decades and should be able to get things smoothed out.
Those who get a Marauder and have a good one out of the box are truly lucky compared to those who wait 6 months and spend $700 only to end up with a gun that shoots like their $400 brothers.

Of course you can keep your frame and tank if your tank is the latest generate hi-flow valve, but you will need to upgrade heavier hammer and spring in-order to push the .25 cal pellet.
Can I keep the same frame and tank or am I cutting myself off at the knees?
Yeah but it won’t be SS anymore though.
What .25 cal options do they have? Could I drop on into an SS?
When I got my Talon SS it shot fine right out of the box. When I bought a chrono I was able to fine tune it but for most people it would have been just fine out of the box.
The same for my AA410 Classic and Career 300. Both were perfect out of the box.
The only way I would buy my next PCP would be to buy from a dealer that would ensure the gun was good to go.
My Condor came shooting ready out of the box(gen2 hiflo). However all that crazy .25 talk killed that dream lol!
I have an early .177 and it was great out of the box. No problems with it still and it appears to just keep getting better. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

My first Marauder was very poor. I never even shot it because the fit and finish was so bad I did not care how it shot… It looked like it had been put together with a pipe wrench.
I contacted Crosman and they issued a call tag to ship it back and sent me a replacement. The replacement is very nice (.22 Cal.)
My friend also bought one (.22 Cal.) and it was nice right out of the box.
Overall, they seem to be very nice guns, I just wish it was shorter and more “evil” looking…
The .177 and .22 have Crosman made barrels and that may be where the bugger falls into the soup. My beloved .25 Marauder, which I recommend whole heartedly, has a barrel made by the Green Mountain Barrel Company. It seems to make all of the difference in the world.
I was worried that my .25’s bolt handle would fall off, or the trigger would break, or something equally rude, or unsocial. I was surprised when it worked out so well. I had been thinking to buy my son a .22 Mrod, but Mamcrackin contacted me and steered me towards the BSA Sportsman HV in .22 caliber…for the closeout price of $400! Great deal 😀 Mine was used and came with a 3-9X40 RWS scope. Thanks Mam. Thanks TAG! Cygnus X confirmed that it was a good deal “if it really was a BSA.” It was.
It seems that the .177 Mrod has a better track record than the .22, but I don’t have any hard data on that, just what people say. If crosman was smart, they would raise the price and put a LW barrel in them or at least contract with Green Mountain for the .177 and .22 barrels.

Some one just asked me about getting them one and told them exactly what you said and now they don’t want one..
I really want to tune mine but with it doing so well out the box do I dare touch it?

I’m using a 24″ .25 barrel in the short frame. I use a stock condor spring and a 50 gram hammer. This used with my 2500psi regulator pushes the JSB 25.4 grain pellets up to 980 fps.
