need a new barrel ..
hi guys its adam..after a chat to jeff at gunpower he reacons my barrel is worn out ,,as all the pellets i try just fall into the hole to easy..that is the prob.
he siad when you close the breech it drags the loose pellet out makin it not seat proper ..then it dumps,, freash barrel is the only way fowerd.
so if enyone has a LW 12″ ID LIKE TO BUY IT PLEASE.. DEPENDING ON THE PRICE OF COURSE..
and a price on a 18″ would be welcomed please.

Adam, How far does the pellet fall into the barrel?

well guys iv been through the barrel with a fine combe.
the only fault i can find is that the pellet just drops into the hole ..
on the 12″ its a tight fit and takes a little push to seat it ,,thats how it should be iv looked at all my other guns ,and ther also tight
the 18″ needs to be machined again so the pellet has anice tight fit .and doesent just drop into the hole..
even the big 21gr beisly mags just fall in so thats were the promlem lies ….what do you guys have to say,,its 3.25am er iv played gun smith long enuff for one day so il bid you all good night..
I find it hard to believe it is worn out? Seems to me it would more likely be a defect or some sort of damage.
I guess anything is possible…

While you’re still intimate with that barrel, and with the bushings still off, roll it on a flat surface and watch for wobble. If the main body is fairly straight watch the breech end for wobble or with the barrel fairly straight set it in two “V” notches like you would to optically zero a scope, and turn it watching for wobble at the breech.
If you’ve got wobble especially at the breech end, it may be a problem with alignment with the valve top hat. If so, ask the experts if it is OK to attempt to straighten it.
Also, run a Q-Tip in and out of it, especially the Muzzle. Any snags at the muzzle may require some attention by an expert to maybe rework the crown.
How does the rifling look? Is the inside polished well, like a mirror finish, other than the rifling? Gun solvent isn’t required to clean an air rifle but a good metal polish like Flitz will help it stay relatively clean and improve accuracy, so they say.
Is the front bushing vented? If not, it’s a big + to have about 8 holes drilled through it in line with the bore. I did a lousy job with a drill mounted on a CHEEP stand (NO PICTURES WILL BE POSTED, just believe it ain’t nice ❗ ) With a real drill press just be careful to avoid drilling through the recesses for the mounting screws. Now I don’t hear any air noise, but I do hear the ping of hammer slap and tank resonance. You’ll know what I’m talking about if you do this mod.

ok iv took it out the bin ,polished the hell otta it..its now really smooth and shiny.. the hammer should like it now.
im gonna see what pellets fit like while its in hand.
eny advice here would be greatfull.

I am with you guys, I never heard of the barrel worn out, specially airgun. The barrel could be larger caliber than the pellet which causing this issue. Adam, you will need to do some tests before purchase new barrel.
I found that even the sloppy small Daisy FN .22 pellets could be seated better if pushed in further than the ass end flush with the barrel. Others too ❗ ❗ But the Daisy’s cost me a part of a bottle of CO2.
I had been using the BALL end of the Beeman Pellseat to get the heavies in but I wanted to shoot up the skinny pellets to get rid of them so I modified the Pointy End of the Pellseat.
I took a dremel cutoff blade and cut a chunk out of one side at the hole provided.
I slowly bent it to about 45 degrees and it didn’t break 🙄
To my surprise 😮 😮 some other pellets could easily be pushed in just a little further until they apparently come up against the rifling. 🙄

I have a 12″ LW barrel that I will never use….. Shoot me a PM if your interested.
But it must have had millions of pellets through it to get any kind of wear. Try pushing a pellet all the way through the barrel and see if it is loose. It might just be that the lead in is too loose and just needs machining back maybe 5-10mm to sort it.
