What do you use to wax your Wood Gun stock?
Minwax Finishing paste wax for my wood stock. I know Renaissance wax is the Ultimate best wax available, but I can’t afford it now.
What do you use to polish your wood stock, and is there any problem using Minwax past wax to polish a wood gun stock? Read to not use a wax containing silicon !
Some say just use Pledge wood polish? Pledge is out, contains silicon.

roachcreek: Johnson’s paste wax and Minwax finishing paste wax were the top two contenders recommended for finished sealed wood stocks on working guns. Also these two contained no silicon, which causes major problems should you decide to refinish that wood stock.
Out of my five guns only one has wood, the CZ rimfire and had no plans to wax until yesterday. Decided I need one gun with a shiny, dainty, polished wood stock.
Couldn’t find Johnson’s paste wax and Lowes had minwax paste wax on the way home so I picked up a can.
First coat has worked wonders and am going to add another coat per day for the next several days. Tend to shelter my guns from the weather, except for Snow and Sleet, which bounces off !

melt a volume of pure Beeswax then slowly pour an equal volume of high grade linseed oil into the molten Beeswax while stirring
pour into Baby food jars and allow to solidify
this is some of the finest stock wax/finish known to man and its use dates back centuries
more you burnish it the deeper the glow
I have a ruger 10/22 that is 30 plus years old. never waxed the stock looks great still. No wonder I buy camo guns I am too friigin lazy to wax the stocks! lol

I had several top end classic stocks from Phil and Marlyn Fischer, they always recommended Johnsons Paste wax. It served me well for many years hunting in harsh weather. It needs to be applied often if you go out in wet weather a lot, like an entire season, it is not durable but was very protective.
It is very slick, and Benneyboy, don’t go there.
