new toy
i just got me a new 10 22 with a bull barrel and laminite stock, this thing is bad ass, i got a 25 round clip and put a swift air rifle scope for close work on it. i was getting 2.5 inch groups at 100 yards with shit ammo. but it wants to shoot better. i guess my question to you guys is what accesserys are worth it and what are hype. i do want to get a good target stock, i think the triger is ok but i do not think it is worth half the price of the gun for a trigger group. maybe a few internal parts for the trigger. but what ammo that is inexpensive have u guys had luck with, i know remington sucks. thanks

For 100 yards you definitely want subsonic/standard velocity stuff. The supersonic stuff tends to be getting close to the soundbarrier at that range and starts to get unstable. Of course that doesn’t mean all of it will, but it’s a good general rule. I have winchester target stuff that is supersonic (although the liars said standard velocity on the box) that gets 1-1.5″ groups at 100 yards. So like I said, not all, but a lot.
As far as ammo to try. The problem you are going to run into is the subsonic stuff, while being the best for accuracy, may or may not cycle the bolt. You’ll just have to try stuff to see. My personal very favorite is CCI standard velocity. Awesome stuff, and it is close to match ammo in performance. CCI subsonic is also very good, and it is extremely devastating on squirrels. For your super accuracy, try eley match and wolf match. But they are pretty expensive compared to the rest. CCI standard/subsonic is more affordable.
Good glass is very important, as roach said. Bad glass is useless. For me, the trigger is one of the most important things in a rifle, so I would definitely drop the money one one of those. A comfortable stock is good. Then maybe a match barrel if you are really looking to get the best out of it. But as far as what you have, scope, trigger, stock, in that order would be what I’d do.

the scope is pretty good it was 250 when i bought it, i just like air rifle scopes because they focus real close for pest control. i think wally world has fed golds. thank for the ammo advice.
ss i guess i will have to see if my condor can hold its own, right now the .25 condor gets 1.5 inch at 100 yards with me shooting i would love to see the 10 22 at least get that. but i feel like it can with sub sonic. high velosity ammo sucks like we all know, i was only getting 6 inches at 100. i going to wally world to see what they have, they are a few miles away. i think they have federal, rem. and winchester wildcat and cci.
I have tried many different types of ammo mine likes the federal golds and extracts them best as well no failure to fires to speak of is also important. I have tried real expensive match grade ammo without much effect on group size (waste of money period). Remington bulk shots great in alkot of my guns for accuracy, it sucks for failure to fire and extractions! I gave up on that crap. Those guns are awesome out of the box. The thing you did not want to spend the $$ is probably your best improvment the trigger. Many people work on thier own and if you go to the rimfire forum there are plenty of guys that will help you out. I have a gun that some gun messed with the trigger and its better than anything else I have shot. The expensive triggers are a hard nut to swallow on a gun that they cost as much as the original purchase price!
A better scope, will make a huge difference. Next would be trigger unless it is very good.
Try several different brands of 22 ammo, each gun is different, when you hit on the correct ammo for the gun, you will see the difference immediately. But unless you have good glass, the difference will pass right by you unnoticed.

I can get 1″ at 100 yards with a 17HMR and top level ammo. So 2.5″ with a 22 is pretty darn good. I bet the groups will tighten with a dirty bore and better ammo. Mine took 50 rounds before it narrowed to 1″
I cannot comment on 22 ammo but I’m sure others will shortly.

Both my 1022’s shoot one hole groups on 25 and although I havn’t grouped it on 100 being that a 22 is a little out of range that far, I can hit a clay Pigeon at 100 yards consistant with both of mine. The triger can use some fine tunning but I can live with it. I’m used to it ;).
