Talon SS vs Marauder
I am considering buying a new PCP.
Currently have a Disco and some springers.
The weight and bulk of the Marauder kinda turns me off. I like em accurate, light weight, quiet, and short.
Two questions if I may: What is a reasonable maximum energy with a .22 SS, and simple tank mod?.
Will it be as quiet as a .22 Disco with a 5″ LDC?.

Boohoo, I have both the TSS in .22 and a .25 Marauder. I wouldn’t part with either of them. The marauder has become my favorite hunting gun. It’s my Go To gun. If you can easily afford the Edgun, then why not buy boththe TSS and the Marauder? You will probably wind up doing that anyway. (Cut to the chase. 😀 )

I ended up buying an Evanix Rainstorm and have been very pleased with it.
I just can`t get the Condors and Talons off my mind.
Right now i`m trying to find details on the Talon P, with not much luck, I might add.

Lowes or Ace hardware, 1 inch O rings and 1 inch fender washers, then get 1 inch copper pipe unions, cut them in two with a pipe cutter.
Stack the unions inside the frame until you get 1/2 inch passed the end of the barrel, then put a washer that has several small holes drilled in it and then a 1/2 union, repeating with undrilled washers and 1/2 unions until you so close to the end cap area that you can’t put another union. Take up the last of the slack with washers and 1 inch Orings, press down hard on the end cap and tighten the set screw.
You can also drill the upper barrel bushing and the frame under the forearm with a small bit to bleed gas down further into the frame under the forearm and out to daylight.

I have both guns and use them for short range – up to 70′ – small pest control and target shooting. Talon is .177 but I have the 22 barrel yet to be used. The Maurader is 22.
I found the Maurader to be much quieter and easier to shoot short range due to increased difference between barrel and scope on the Talon. the multi shot on the Maurader is also an nice, however I almost never miss with it.
First year with Talon I got 147 chipmunks. Second year with Maurader, I shot 227 chippers. Once I got Maurader, I stopped using the Talon for short range hunting. Love both guns and would not part with either – Maurader is a bit heavy, but over-all the go to gun for short range shooting.
If I had to pick one, it would be the Maurader.
The SS is all the things you mention. It’s quiet (champagne cork) but not silent (holleywood thut thut) out of the box. Several people make frame extenders to help disperse the wasted air.
One drawback of the AF design is the muzzle to scope axis is 3″~3.5″. So a near zero of 12 yards and far of 40 yards means outside 12-40 yards you will need mil dots on your scope for 1″ target shooting (tree rats etc).
Advantages of the AF design: You have two accessory dovetails built into the frame. A lot of people put a cheap laser closer to the bore and sight in for close range. Another advantage is you can buy additional tanks from AF and take them into the field with you for additional air. Or you can run a second tank at a lower pressure for plinking and preserving your primary air supply (SCUBA tank or hand pump).
I love the Talon SS. You can put baffles in the frame and make it pretty quiet.
It is a real short and tight rifle that can pack a punch. With the 12″ barrel I got 855 fps with crosman premieres and 755 fps with Kodiak in .22
If you like POWER, then go with the .22 SS or .25 SS with high flow valve and get a SHROUD to keep the noise down.
Edgun – I can easily afford it but not interested in one at this time.
I thought the Talon SS was shrouded and quiet. Is the shroud on the SS for looks only?.
Still interested to know the max energy of the SS in stock configuration with a simple mod or two.
The EDgun will turn you on if you could afford, it’s accurate, light weight, quiet, and sexy.
