condor valve acting more like a 12 gr co2 cart (update)…
{In addition, while filling the bottle up from the scuba tank it dumped all the air on me when I opened up the scuba bleed screw}. I took the valve apart to see if there is anything obvious going on in there??? I could not perceive anything other than the spring looking a little off, i.e. when I compress it between my fingers the coils are a little “wavey” not perfectly straight.
After I put the valve back together and filled again…it dumped all the air a second time! WTF!!!!! 👿 😡 😈 👿 😡 ❓
EDIT: I just looked in the quick reference at a Condor valve and the spring I saw looks like one of the two possible springs that I found on my bench. One can hardly be compressed with my fingers…the other is easy to compress. I am deducing that the one that belongs is the stiffer one and this is the one that I did not put in yet (which could explain the tank dump under pressure) HOWEVER, the stiffer spring does not seat in the shelf of the valve spring retainer…it doesn’t seem to be a large enough diameter and it gets pressed into the airway of the valve spring retainer 😡 😯 😥
Next logical question, who has a Condor spring for me an how much, please???? Thanks!
…I am not sure what is going on…but I took it apart two times now and each time I retest it it is not putting out like it should be!?!
I tried it on three differrent rifles with three different hammer weights. On a .22 18″ barrel with an 82 gram hammer it only put out 700 fps?? 😯
I then tried it with my 95 gram AAA .25 and still not putting out!
I know enough about these to know that the problem is the valve not any other factors, i.e. fill pressure, preload, etc. So I was wondering if anyone has had any similar experience with a “high flow” valve and perhaps you could offer some advice? Thanks.

This was a test.
11:20 pm. I was laying in bed thinking of Rob’s (no not those) words: “it doesn’t make any sense…”, when suddenly I had an epiphany.
Awhile back I did the talon valve flow mod. When I did this mod, I also included a condor valve spring retainer (and condor valve spring) in the talon valve. I discovered that it was using too much air for the fps gains so I switched back to the talon valve spring retainer onlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy when I switched back I made the mistake of leaving the condor valve spring in place 💡 Now I realize why my talon tank (flow mod) was hell out the gate but with a steady drop in fps no matter what fill pressure I used. This also explains why the spring I was trying to put in my condor valve spring retainer did not fit properly on the counterbore (it wasn’t the proper od as it was a talon valve spring, not a condor! EUREKA cried the half witted airgun smith! 😆
Oh and thank God for Jim’s valve removal tool! It sure got a workout these last few days 🙂

….. I’m not seeing a problem… I’m no guru on these, but what you are describing doesnt make much sense.
As far as the valve dump, I’ve turned the tank up full bore for just a split second on a fill to blow out the check valve when filling when I’ve had a check valve fail and a tank dump…. but the weak numbers…. I think you are on the right track with looking for another spring. Dont have a spare or I’d send your way.
Hmmm….. Besides all of the pw, th fill pressure stuff I can see why the valve wouldn’t perform.

No, it is from my condor which I bought new around two years ago. The spring is in there…i was wondering if I put a spring in from something else. I have not had time to look for any pictures of a disassembled valve yet, if I saw one…then I would recognize if it is the same spring I have in mine. Assuming it is the same spring…I wonder what else could cause the low fps??? 😕 😡 ❓
my guess is tank dump if there was no spring. but either way I have my turned out almost all the way. is it a 1st gen valve?

Yes, I had the valve spring retaining nut off and I put it back on. I am wondering if I lost the spring somewhere along the way (my work bench is full of springs 😡 and perhaps I put in a “wrong” spring. I will look for a stickie on the valve to see what the spring looks like…that would be an easy enough explaination, but nothings ever easy with these airguns..at least for me, anyway 👿

I did have problems like that when I tried to use the valve from a CO2 adapter. I know you stated it is acting like, not came from.
Turns out the brass insert is different on the Hi Flow valves on the CO 2 adapter, don’t know if that is your problem though.
Where did this valve come from?

A work out for sure, but when your using scuba to refill, it sure makes the air go fast refilling from empty. With scba I assume it is not quite as bad.
