130 FPE Condor .22

Recently did a chrony test with a 55 grain pellet and I was suprisingly shocked. On powerwheel turned to zero I measured 285 m/s. With powerwheel turned to the max I measured 315 m/s! That is a respectable 130 FPE! I wondered if anyone has reached this power with a .22 barrel.
How I achieved this power? With an improved original condor valve, a 87 gram hammer and a bit stiffer hammer spring. Together with a 300 bar bottle (I did the test with 260 bar) I achieved the above mentioned result. I did only have a few pellets so I could not test the accuracy with the 55 grain pellets but this is a real condor on steroids!
Anyone with about the same (or higher) performance?

Yep, 55 grains. They are indeed very long and I don’t expect them to be stable in my barrel. But that’s another issue …..

Are you sure you are using .22 pellets that weigh 55 grains?
just as a reference, normal .22LR ammo (for powderburners) uses 40 grain bullets. The special Aguila SSS rounds, the heaviest commercially available ammo, uses a 60 grain bullet. So your 55g bullet would have to be a solid slug close to 3/4″ long. Any normal .22 barrel will not even stabilize this heavy a .22 slug, the rifling twist is not fast enough.

Double o-rings? Keep em well lubed. The 2 that have to slide on the barrel during the shot will need to move freely.

I might be building another rifle with a need for such things.

I now have a steel breech with double o-rings at each end, lets just say that I will be taking full advantage of my 250BAR rated bottle 🙂

Good to mention the breech! It’s definitely not designed for those higher pressures I suppose…… Anyway, I do know the capability of my gun. I will lower the working pressure in order to keep things safe.

I had a breech split with a fill of 2800psi, shooting 43gr EJs at 1025fps.

Brad valve, brad spring.

No way would I try to overpressure that breech. You need to make a better one.

I believe as long as the breech system will contain all the pressure and with heavier pellets, and a higher PSI delivered to the valve, it will put thse guns into an entirely different class,

Somewhere though there has to be a limit on the breech Orings.
