Condor hammer and custom hammer
The Condor hammer weighs about 85 grams and the custom brass hammer is 95 grams. What is the reason to put the custom one in the gun. What difference does it make. I shoot 21 – 25 gr. pellets so do I go heavier or lighter? Every airgun hammer I have seen is hardened steel and the custom one is brass, don’t make sense. I must be missing the boat. Thanks for any advice.

Personally I think a easier sliding hammer with a decent weight helps with the consistancy not just power.

I fully agree ditch the seperate spacer and use a smooth running one piece hammer will improve consistancy which goes hand in hand with accuracy…Greg
I had Greg make me a 115 gram hammer, correct me if I am wrong on that weight Subssonnic. I use it and the Condor spacer, but put the spacer on the powerwheel end to act as a preload. I have to back a little off max on the powerwheel to ensure it will still cock.
It was a shame to put it in the gun it was so pretty.
You hear pople talk about their valves not opening at 3000PSI fills ❓
My valve opens completely at 3200 PSI with no trouble at all 😎

Okay guys one thing I noticed with my Condor is how crappy the hammer design looked. The added loose steel weight just looked like a drag inducer.
Ordered a 110 gram hammer from Tony but turned it down to 100 grams, removed the tape from the hammer spring, polished the frame area where the hammer slides, did a minor silicone lube on the friction area of the customer.

Like maw said the hammer “slap” is the sound of the hammer hitting the breach…I kinda like hearing that and the tank ping just before the happy thwak of the pellet strike thanks to a quality shroud..Greg
Hammer slap is when the hammer hits the receiver and receiver pushes the valve in for air. The noise made after pulling the trigger. Wear ear plugs won’t even notice, that is my version of the hammer slap mode.
OK Greg I see what you are saying now. I seem to be all about weight and most prfer a heavier hammer. So with a higher fill and heavier hammer this means more power?? A quality hammer makes better shot to shot consistency posible if I’m understanding this. What makes hammer slap and is it a problem or should I not worry about it. The more I study this gun the less I understand lol. Thanks for your answers guys.

The main reason for a heavier hammer imo is to open the valve fully at higher fill pressures and brass is used to get the higher weight without having to make it really long stainless works as well since its even heavier than mild steel… so in short the hammer is just one piece of the puzzle that is a well tuned gun..its like putting a puzzle together you know where you’re at and where you wanna be its just a matter of getting the pieces you need….Greg
Part of tuning, the hammer gives more power, you slow the power down, and subsequently you end up with a more consistant gun. There is an overboard point of the tuning where as you can’t tune the gun down anymore and you are left with just power. I think the Condor hammer is more in the range of 67 grams.
