Q:

1 Day Old Talon SS fires on taking safety off

Just joined this group today and just joined the rank of air rifles yesterday with purchase of a new Talon SS .22 with 4×50 scope and bipod with a hand pump. I am out a grand and after shooting 100 pellets yesterday, no problem. Today 75 pellets and it started shooting every time you push the safety forward (off). Poor quality control? Is there a fix or do I need a new rifle? I am totally new to this so a YouTube trouble shoot (no pun intended) would be good.

right on, skippy. like i said, haven’t had a misfire since i took it out. best safety on that gun, besides YOU, is decock after you load a pellet if you’re not going to fire it immediately. hope this helps 🙂

Trying to follow what you are saying and looking at the drawing, it seems you are indicating that when the Safety Slide is pushed forward, it unsupports the Striker Release. Clearly since without the Safety Bar you experience no problems, then it seems like the Safety Slide is holding the Striker Release too high where it is not tight against the Sear, giving the rebound spoken of.
Everything else can be ruled out because it works without the Safety Bar.

i think the problem lies in the fact that the safety sear puts pressure on the hammer sear. whenyou disengage the safety, it allows the hamer sear to rebound. that, coupled with the light trigger springs, allows the hammer sear to disengage. at least that’s what it felt like when it happened to me. i haven’t had a single premature firing since i removed the “safety” . the gun really is safer without it.

just get rid of the safety. my condor did it , too. don’t need the cocksucker any way.

Get rid of that safety altogether,I had that same problem on my Condor and ricocheted a pellet off my driveway and blew out my truck’s window…. Safety,my ass! 😯

For a brand new TSS, I would contact AirForce and see what they say. If you try to fix it yourself, then you will probably void the warranty.
