100 Yard Group – Cricket Carbine 22 Caliber

It was good shooting weather yesterday, 45 degrees with little wind so I took the .22 Cricket rifle out to shoot some 100 yard groups. The best group of the afternoon was about 1 inch CTC but I forgot to hit record button on the camera(not easy getting old). The second best group I made sure the camera was recording and uploaded it to you-tube. Measured 1.154 inches CTC.

We all have seen tighter 100 yard groups. Just livening up the Kalibrgun thread.

The Cricket Carbine returned from the Bullpup Whisper. Ernest repaired the spring, tuned the indexing for the magazine(smooth as silk) and tuned the regulator. Its now shooting the 18.1’s 920 fps. Ernest also made a 1 shot adapter that fits and works perfectly.

I want to thank the TAG members that sent emails and called trying to get my Cricket sorted. Greg(GKU) mailed me a dozen springs free of charge hoping it would get the gun to shoot. Talk about a nice guy.

Now I am waiting for some nice weather to see what kind of 100+ yard groups its capable of. Im also looking forward to trying some 22. 5 grain slugs I picked up from Nielsen Specialty Ammo. Have any of you guys shot slugs from your Cricket?

When I removed the HS I found a spacer, it looks like a dead head used on the end of foster fitting to see how much air is in a scuba tank. I called Charlie from Georgia Airguns to see if he had any springs. He sent a 60mm spring.

I installed it without the spacer then turned it all the way up. The gun shot 680 fps with 18.1’s. Then I tried with the spacer and 18.1’s were over 1100 fps. With H&N 21.1 grain and the HS turned all the way down fps were consistent at 885 – 890. I did not check accuracy with the H&N’s yet and probably wont because of all the stress. Right now there is no spring installed.

Greg(GKU) sent a shorter spring, hopefully it will shoot 18.1’s at 900 – 915 fps like it did before the HS went. The HS most likely went early due to the spacer putting all the tension on it. If it doesnt shoot at 880 – 915 it will be going to visit the Cricket specialist for a cure.

Well I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes and specially not on Ernest’s business but I don’t see anything wrong with your gun.

Same here Sam, nice weather coming for a few days.

Thanks guys. Middle of next week we are suppose to have some nice shooting weather. Hopefully the HS fixes the problem or the gun will be going to Ernest for a spa session.

Very nice result for 100y indeed. 😉

Very nice shooting Sam!

Thanks Zonk. 5 dead chucks for sure. Next time out hopefully the new HS will tighten up the groups.

Nice, it’d be a dead woodchuck that’s for sure.
