100yds with the Beeman Falcon R & FX Cyclone

I shot a 16 shot group this morning at 100yds with a 2.445″ CTC. I
was using Air Arms 16.0gr which when weighed look exactly like JSB 15.9gr.
I don’t think it was the guns fault that the group was that big. As you
can see there are only 12 holes so at some point I was aiming at
the same spot more than once although I was trying to aim at the
same spot every time. I am most positive that one of the holes is a
3 shot hole but there are at least 3 holes that have more than one
pellet through them which tells me that this group could be much
smaller if I did my part. These are not sorted pellets. They came
right out of the tin randomly. I don’t use a rear bag to support the
rifle so, technically these aren’t bench rest shots. I do have the
front supported and shoulder it .This thing is a laser and I haven’t
even tried the JSB 18.1gr yet…
I am going to try to shoot groups at this yardage with all of my
guns today if the wind stays calm so check back later for more results…
Basically same story with the Cyclone as far as setup and pellets
I did figure out that I can fill the FX to 3,400psi and is seems (much
to my surprise) that this gun is regulated…The shot string ran
a consistant average of 950FPS with an SD of 5.5FPS until it fell off after
24 shots. Pretty good.

Pretty amazing we actually got the same result..But that’s the way
it should be..
Yea Love my Talon SS I have to admit that I quite enjoy a seeing
how the number come out, and the shooting….My cocking finger is sore.
That’s a lot of Cocking..Hmmmm…Don’t say it…lol..
I thought your BC sounded funny on the 28.4 Eunjins as the velocity didn’t drop at nearly the same rate mine did over a shorter distance. However I guess from being fired at a higher velocity mine dropped off more quickly but I arrived at the same exact BC of .042

Don’t have any Kodiaks so those will have to show up in the mail box
to find out…lol
I have run the BC on those 2 pellets twice and the 15.9 has out
performed the 18.1 both times…..I remember the BC being much
lower for both but last time was at 65yds….Ya know I forgot that I
have two chronys and I could actually get both FPS readings on the
same shot..The only factor then would be the possible difference
in readings between the 2 chronys..I guess I could check that too….
Man I tell ya the testing doesn’t end….
I was surprised at the BC of the 18 gr. I expected it to do a bit better. 🙁

There we go…. As far as you have proved the rule of thumb is pending on fps of course Is the grain weight of the pellet is the foot pound impact pressure at 100 yards.

Got it done….I got 3 out of 8 over the chrony on
one knee using a hunting stick for a gun rest…
It was tougher than I thought it would be….lol

Nice observation….Now that is a question to be answered…I do
have some Eun Jins 28.4gr that could just be tested to see how it works
out…Those would be scarey to shoot cause I have no idea how
much hold over they would take….I’ll get up some nerve and see
if I can get it done…

18FPE can do a lot of damage…
Got to love those air guns.. Getting 17.5 to 18 + foot pounds at 100 yards should be an advertisement. Looks like you could count on getting the same foot pounds as the grain weight of the pellets at 100 yards. Wonder if 21gr Kodiaks would be getting around 21 foot pounds.

Man I’m jealous of your range. I’d be content with any of those groups; the one from the Cyclone is impressive. Cool to see how fast they are still travelling @ 100 yards.

I used the STP program and it may not be the most accurate…Let
me know if you need more information for calculations….
Now understand that I did not have 2 chronys to shoot with so the
close FPS results are completely different strings than the 100yds
strings but they were shot in the same order to hopefully keep the
results a accurate as possible…I know some of you will be taking note
of the ES and SD on the close and far strings and trying to figure out
why they are different…..I don’t know if that would have changed if I
had 2 chronys but I thought I would disclose that tid bid of info before it
became an issue..
