Q:

12" Barrel: .22 or .25

Currently have a 24″ .22 barrel in my Condor. I’m going to keep this for the long range, bigger target applications.

I intend on purchasing one more barrel but as a 12″ for short handy shooting around the house and when portability and “stealth” are more of a priority. I will also use the aftermarket sound loc kit for this configuration to quiet it down some.

Potential targets range from squirrels to pigeons to coons and small foxes.

Is a .25 cal needed to make up for the loss in velocity? Or will a .22 suffice? Hopefully the 12″ .22 is the recommended caliber as only buying 1 caliber of pellets is a plus, not to mention I like a higher shot counts.

Anyways, just curious what the experience is regarding this set up. Thanks for any responses fellas.

OK, so a 12″ barrel should be fine in a condor frame, regardless of caliber, if you have a ttqcth. I would use the spacer with the most airflow, or even no spacer in the top hat. I don’t know how the 12″ barrel will react with a sound-loc system in the gun. You could look into buying pvc pipe for the interior of your gun, and making a silencer. As for caliber, I’d go .25. you’re after some pretty hefty game, and the bigger the hole, the better. JMO.

What went into getting your TH adjusted?
And are you talking about a Condor or Talon SS?
Thanks for the response too! 🙂

After finally getting my TH adjusted, my 12″ 22cal SS is Johnny on the spot. You already have the ammo. It’s also easier to quiet down. 2cents

It will be going on my Condor! The 24″ barrel is so darn loud and a little too lengthy for the way Im currently using it. Was hoping to go with a 12″ for compactness and the aftermarket sound loc kit! 18″ would still be a good length but then too loud unless I shrouded it but then my OAL is the same again. I really need to hear that a 12″ in the Condor can be made to work well with a talon tunes quick change top hat. I need some input before I start throwing $$$ to the wind.

And thanks for the reply!?!?!! This place is quiet sometimes 🙁

PS: before ya’ll tell me I should have just got a talon ss , I chose the condor frame for multiple reasons after weighing the pros and con’s between the two. I’d rather tune down than try and go up as well. I’ll need the massive power at times so the talon as wouldn’t always work.

CALM DOWN EVERYBODY! NO NEED TO JUMP ON THIS POST AT ONCE! lol, but seriously, what the hell guys? Anyway, I’m thinking for fox sized game I would want the .25, or something bigger. Stick to only head shots and within 30 yards with that .25. It might be a little bit overpowered for squirrels, but just keep them to head shots and you shout be good! What gun is this going in? a Talon SS? or your Condor? I don’t know how it will act inside the condor.

Thanks for all the info guys…
