150 yards with the Royale 400

It put down an inch of powder this morning and at 23 degrees the wind was still when I started off.

I put a target up and parked my Explorer 150 yards from the target frame.

I fired off 5 shots with 30 minutes of elevation, the wind had just started up and you can see the wind flag starting to lean. The backstop is a 4x4x4 foot piece of 1/2 inch plywood.

Thru the Leupold VXIII I could see the pellet holes at 150 yards at 14 power, so I put in another 4 minutes of elevation, the variable wind could be felt on my face by now, as I shot 4 more times and ran out of pellets in the magazine, I had held on the right of the target this time and even with the bull.

This is the first group before the wind got too bad. the upper right hole in the small bull is from the 2nd group.

This is the 2nd group, the holes in the lower left are from the first group, you can see the stringing effetct of wind at 150 yards.

I was using unsorted 18.1 Exacts, two levels on the Leupold and FX and a fill of 200 bar. I used a Caldwell range bag and a folded tarp of a rear rest. The target backstop is also level.

And I froze my pinkies. 😯
