The 452 varmint is slightly under 550 american $. The 453 is $690. Don’t know the current exchange rate, but at least the 452 is in your budget. Plus you can probably get them cheaper close to you. The rest of the guns are in your budget as well. If you can, try to find some you can handle and play with. At least then you’ll be able to decide which one you like the feel of best.
I guess staying within £500 would be nice but dont mind spending a bit more if it means i wont want to upgrade in a few months time.
I don’t think the cz will need trigger work. My trigger is awesome.
You could get the 453 varmint, which has the set trigger. Makes the pull weight about 8 oz, should be light enough. I love the set thing, normal weight if you just cock the gun and pull the trigger, but if you cock it then push the trigger forwards, it turns into a super light target trigger.
The 452 and 453 triggers are both adjustable for weight from the factory.
Brutus, do you have a budget or requirements? The Savage has the accutrigger, and has the available 5-10 rounds, and the marlin has a bad trigger and 4-7 rounds. About the same price. The CZ will be at least $150 more than the others, and needs triger work too.. The ruger has a bad trigger, and the same barrel. New barrel will set you back $100 plus, and the gun is the price of a CZ to begin with. But you get a flush magazine.
The Ruger is a Great looking Gun, But I’ve yet to hear of an owner getting really good groups with one. They just don’t group well. You would think that Ruger would get off their ass and get some decent bbl’s.
I have a marlin 917V and is superbly accurate. I also always hear good things about the CZ452
I don’t know about the 17HMR but I can testify that the Marlin bolts and autos I’ve used are pretty good guns. The lever guns have pretty stiff triggers though.
my first choice would be cz my second choice would be ruger. if your on a bugdet i would go with a marlin bolt gun. my 2 cents / kingpin
I always recommend cz guns. Either the 452 american or varmint is good. I would prefer the varmint for 17hmr though.
Wicked accurate. Definitely a good one for critter killing!
For the UK, i highly reccomend the Cz 452 american. With a 5 shot mag it is devastating on rabbits. Once had a 267 (Lasered) yard crow requiring only just over a foot of hold over

Fluting looks just like the breech in the picture above, grooves cut in the barrel. What it does is reduces barrel weight, and gives the barrel more surface area, allowing it to cool faster.
Twist rate determines how heavy of a bullet it will shoot accurately. The faster the twist the heavier the bullet that can be shot. When you get one just play with different ammo and weights and find the one I likes best.
The gun in my sig is a blaser lrs2. A god of guns. 🙂
