Q:

18- or 24 inch BSA barrel needed

Hi All,

Can someone actually know where i can buy a 18 or 24 inch BSA blank barrel. Apparently BSA are shipping all they produce to Spain at the moment. I have tried several places.

Please don’t recommend somewhere/someone unless you 100% know they have it, as i will be chasing my tail for a second time.

Thanks for any help, much appriciated.

Matt.

All sorted now, thanks to everyone.

Mine was $305, shipping included. The exchange rate changes daily and Western Union charges an additional fee for changing the transfered funds to BPS! 😯 They basically charged me twice for using them and using them cost me over $50!

IIRC the blanks are 80 pounds British sterling ($129) and Leupy charges extra for any machine work. I had the crown cut and threaded 1/2 UNC with a thread protector added, barrel cut to 23.8″ OA length, breech end turned down to .571″ for 3″, the in lead done and the barrel breech end face cut for an O ring.

He is not cheap but, he does VERY nice work! Once I sent him the funds, it took him 1 week to get the work done and shipping was about 2 weeks.

Before I found out that Leupy could sell me a BSA barrel, I had ordered a LW .25 cal barrel, cut to 23.8″ OA length, finish ground down to .619 OD for the full length and the crown cut. It cost me $185 and I had to have the O ring groove, in lead and the crown threads cut locally. The LW ended up costing about the same and it is still only an LW barrel. It took the LW barrel about 10 weeks to show up!

guess i was misinformed. 😡 how much did that 24-.25 set ya back?

Leupy (Drum) and I exchanged quite a few emails. I had been trying to get a BSA barrel for over a year, without any luck. Drum had told me that he only gets one or two BSA barrel consignments a year lately. He just got his first, and maybe only, around the 1st of March. I know that there were some .22s in the consignment. They might be gone by now.

If you want one, you need to send him an email quickly!

I am working on a new breech setup for my Matador right now. When I got my Leupy barrel in, I used some barrel mounts that I had and shot some very nice 35 yard groups. All could be covered by a nickel, most by a dime and a few were less than .150” CTC. I had 2 that measured .110”CTC! It was windy; I was trying to get my regulator and hammer spring tension set and was in a hurry as it was starting to get dark.

I am very happy with the barrel right now. If the new breech works out, I think that the groups will get better. If I don’t see any improvement, I can live with the way it is shooting right now.

I just got a Leupy 24″ long .25 cal Barrel, 3-19-2011!

It is going on my .25 cal long version Edgun Matador. I hope to have the gun up and shooting next week.

Leupy does excellent work!

If you want a BSA barrel, you had better contact him ASAP as I don’t know how many he got in his shipment.

Forgot to mention .22

what ever happened to leupy? i was told that he had an illness in the family or something, and was temporarily down. whatever the case, i wish him and his family nothing but the best, hoping hes at it again soon, he is a true AF/GP god. maybe try dan lilja, if it doesnt have to be BSA, one of the most reputable barrel guys today.

He’s being waiting for months for some, including 24’s

If BSA have none going at the mo you can try http://www.leupyscustomshop.co.uk as if your lucky they may have some in stock. But am not 100% they will have any.
