Q:

200 yards standing with the 25 LBT

I shot 4 groups at 200 and 212 yards standing with a rest on the garden gate today.

With a 70 yard zero, the drop is 83.5 inches and the 4 MPH wind blows the bullet 7.7 inches.

Each group was identical 3 shots into 7 inches. They still go thru the metal at 212 yards and have 66 FPE of energy which is identicle to a 25 ACP.

Yeah, great firewood if you give it time to cure properly or cut down the dead ones.

RC

beautiful madrone in your yard there!

were exactly are you? my guess is yorkville, boonville, or somewhere close… ????

Bogman,

At long range the Diablo really shows it’s flaws, even the long range god Harry confirms that 20% or so of Diablo’s corkscrew at longer ranges.

No big skills are needed to do this mod, just do the valve work with a RL stem and Tagdagger parts, cut off the choke and recrown the barrel and cut a lead in with a dremel and a craytex bit.

Many skilled members here can do that if your hesitant, but I did all mine with a dremel.

Bullets are a different matter, if you cast just order a LBT .255-50 SFN from Veral Smith at LBT or buy 60 grain Surefires form Jerry if you do not cast.

RC, that’s an amazing, if not “ultimate” mod., finally harnessing the AF power, instead of the stock platform’s “necking down”. Those slugs are keeping some phenomenal energy down field.

It’s curious why the Diabolo, which has air slowing the thing down at the skirt, is so prevalent and accurate at short range. With the slugs, seems the turbulence is largely behind it.

Man, if you’re ever looking for a wintertime/foul weather project and want to build another one of those rifles (to sell), please let me know. You can tell that baby is hard to put down!

You might not need that garden fence after awhile.

Someone is really getting into this long range thing! I’ll bet your pretty eager for a no wind day…

BTW, it’s nice to see the powerhouse gun holding up to plenty of use.
