.22 auto pistols? Beretta Neos any good?
Definately in the Other Guns catagory here.
I have been eyeing getting a .22 auto powder burner for plinking and some informal hunting.
I would love a Browning Contour, but at less than half the cost, the Beretta Neos looks like a better option with my budget. I just can’t quite justify spending near $500 when I could get a Neos for $250 and have my eye on a good used one for $180 and the other $200+ would buy a hell of a lot of ammo. The Browning is a nice gun, I have handled it but not shot it and it just feels so good in my hands. The Beretta comes very close, but the trigger just does not feel as deluxe as the Browning does.
I need to find a way to test shoot each I guess.
What is your opinion on the Neos anyone?
Certainly looks like a good bargain for the money as I want the gun to have a scope rail which is standard on the Neos, and the Brownings that have one are much more expensive.

i dont know the price but the rugker mkII target pistol feels aswsome in the hand and is VERY accurate

The Neos is a good gun. About the only complaints I’ve heard from friends that have them is to go through and use blue loctite on all the screws as soon as you buy it so they don’t shoot loose at the range.
I’m fond of Rugers and Smith model 41’s myself when it comes to semi-auto .22 pistols. The Sig/Hammerli Trailside is also excellent. Browning Buckmarks are good too.
You can get a basic Mark III Ruger for about the same price as the Neos but the fancier ones get more expensive. Can’t touch a Smith model 41 for the price of the Neos though.
$250 or so will buy you a good used Mark II or Mark III Ruger target model with the bull barrel and that’s what my recommendation would be. The Rugers are typically a little more accurate than the Neos.
Here’s my Ruger Mark III hunter– Volquartsen trigger kit, mag disconnect removed with Mark II hammer & bushing, Burris FastFire II red dot. Very accurate and fun & cheap to shoot, I have a lot of fun on the 50 yard rimfire steel silhouette range with it seeing how fast I can mow down the rows.
I’m still trying to find a deal on a good used Smith model 41 to keep my Ruger company.
