Q:

.22 barrel diameter?

Was wondering if some of you guys could measure your .22 barrel. If possible, measure it where the hammer travels. Mine is tapered and to many different sizes. I want to make a barrel guided hammer for .22. Thanks Doug

Yep I don’t know I would have guessed they would all be the same and at least within a couple thousands from end to end! 😥

What is weird is the .25 barrels seem to be real consistent at .634″ I have 2 they measure the same and gearhead’s measures the same. I sent out 2 hammers and they both fit nice. I’m only leaving .002″ clearance (.634″ barrel .638″) for the hammer.

yep making it hard to do! Not sure why I am guessing LW makes there barrels for Airforce complete and all they do is assemble! I would think they would be real consistent 😯 Maybe no reason to be for there use? there hammers don’t really touch the barrel but it is a better way to make a hammer having it ride on the barrel for sure! has to be a better way of getting the hammer to slide good!

Thanks. So so far I have my barrel that is .622″ down to .617″ where the hammer rides. Gearhead’s is .627″-.628″ and yours at .624″. Looks like no hammers for .22 unless measurement is taken of your barrel. I will have to get a adjustable ream so I can cover .010″.

Dyotat I had a spare 24″ Airforce barrel but sold it, but I do recall micing it for a post! If I remember correct mine vareid a little bit but was pretty consistent at .624 hope this helps!

some feedback on this would be beneficial, as this would help him standardize the breech id on his custom breeches. i bought one, and it is a superior piece of mod… 😎

edit- i am a little sleepy and didnt realize that its for his hammers, but the principle applies. if theyre as well engineered as his breech, they have real potential and possibly the only barrel ride hammer with nylon core since leupy…those are big shoes to fill…
