Q:

.22 cphp mod

I have found a way to turn a Walmart .22cphp into a higher bc 19 grain inexpensive pellet what i have been doing is placing a .177 copperhead bb into the skirt of the pellet and firmly seat it into the skirt they stay in the skirt while being shot and never touch the bore the pellet still rides the lands and grooves in the same normal contact areas so essential the bb is covered by the skirt while traveling the bore test have shown promising results they group as well as the cphp without bbs inserted but the ones with bbs don’t drop as fast and expand quit well they keep expanding until the bb is revealing at the top of the mushroomed pellet in the center the bbs stay in place I have yet to see separation of bb and pellet it seems from test the bb pushes against the soft lead and expands my condor shoots them nicely I would suggest only single shot rifles shoot them due to th smaller contact area of the bb may not be acomidating to bolt probes

I wonder if you could add weight to a 25 cal pellet this way? Great thread.

Novel idea super-sonic!!

I s’pose you could always try it with lead “bb’s” (or .177 round lead balls as they call em) and see how those work.

I believe with the bb inserted the center of gravity is more towards the middle of the projectile and hence forth eliminates the gaping b/c robbing hole created by the skirt and at the same time the bb I think increases the sectional density therefore helping the b/c also I have yet to try but would like to test them supersonic and see what happens since the diablo design is overcome with the bb they may just group

Well I went ahead and set up targets at 45 yrds and I am pleased to say they grouped well enough for the holes to be touching so now it’s time to test them on squirrels

Interesting.
but me fynk weight of the pellet should be in front not at the skirt lest it may defy the vector kinetic blah blah blah……
you never know the projectile may do even more interesting thing like overcoming the spin from rifling and doing somersault near the target to amuse the intended target. Lol.

Regards,

Interesting idea. I’m going to try this out.

great info.

That is interesting. I would think that the bb in the skirt would make it so far out the aft center of gravity they wouldn’t group at all. Go figure, I’ll try it.

pretty cool.
