ok terminolgy time:
BB caps: .22RF primer fired round ball loads
CB caps: .22RF primer fired conical bullet loads
Subsonic…generally .22LR reduced propellant loads with heavy conical bullets
now some points on the intended usage:
BB caps are one of the earliest .22RF loadings developed by Flobert in the mid 19th Century
CB caps are development of the BB cap by Flobert for slightly better accuracy… they also work well for vintage pistols such as War between the States vintage S&W #1s, Reids My Friend Knuckle Dusters or Flobert rifles that may grenade with anything else…these are simply indoor shooting loads like the Germanic 4mm Zimmerschuetzen rounds. And with the right rifle are EXTREMELY accurate.
Subsonic IS slightly quieter than High Velocity but not a great deal to the Human Ear, they simply don’t break the sound barrier.
Now you run subsonic in an integrally suppressed pistol or rifle with a ported barrel they will be incredibly quiet but you won’t even reach pellet gun velocity…quite likely my Styer LP50 has more power
a number of years back a couple of Federal Agencies and some urban Police departments were pissed as hell at H&K blaming the company for the total ineffectivness of thier MP5SD
after some investigation it was discovered that these folks were running subsonic 9mm through the ported barrel SD…result? Under 500FPS MV
supposidly this was part of the story behind certain media reports of drug enraged perps taking multiple hits with no effect. Policies were changed and agencies no longer use subsonic in integrally moderated arms.
Tried Colibri years ago in a buddies integrally suppressed Ruger .22 pistol…very quiet but I swear if you watched carefully you could see the projectiles in flight just like the Daisy BB gun I had as a child.
couldn’t see the point to it all, why not just get a decent semi auto CO2 or PCP match pistol?
Bear in mind Shaggy chono’d out of a Derringer which has a longer effective barrel length than any of the inegrally suppressed Rugers which start their porting sequence sometimes as close as 1/2″ from the chamber.
Subsonic is fine with a muzzle mounted suppressor, nothing else and really is not designed to be “quiet” in unmoderated firearms.
btw…many .22 match loadings are subsonic and cost no more than the over marketed buzz worded “Subsonic”
I might as well introduce you to “Cat’s Sneeze” loadings
it’s a Finnish term similar to Airgunners use of Mousefart that was/is used by the Finns to describe highly specialized subsonic loads developed for extremely low signature levels
basically a hot primer with a light load of ultra fast powder and a light projectile in Mosin Nagant rifles
done right these are extremely quiet

The CB ammo is good in an American arms derringer because a full power load will not have much differernce. In a long barrel 22 like my CZ they are quieter than a 22 short. In my Chipmunk 22 they are not too quiet.
My condor or talondor or even tallon ss shoots harder and faster and has more energy than the 22 CB or 22 quiet ammo, for a fracton of the price. I keep some around for a conversation peace. I don’t get serrious with it, but it is a good Racoon round for about 10 yards, ut it is highly inaccurate.
Stick with the tallon ss and the 28 grain EJ’s and you’ll do better. 😀
O chronod some in my derrenger and it chonod at about 430 feet per second, so the foot pounds isn’t inpressive at all. It’s just a good 10 yard round for someone who is too tight to buy a good air rifle, even a Breake barrel like a stoger in 17 caliber will outshoot the CB or silant 22. Those rounds shouldn’t even be classified as a fire arm round LOLOL

I have shot all that stuff before owning the condor, i was trying for a quite pesting solution, they hit really hard, but after 10 yards they suck for accuracy,and really are nothing to brag about at 10 yards, and way louder than a shrouded condor.
the thing is the rifling twist is not right for the 29 grain bullets for most all rim fires so the accuracy suffers.
I was trying the stuff years ago before i bought my first quality springer, a M. 48 RWS 177 ,( wish i had bought a 22 ) but again the accuracy was terrible in all rim fires that i tried.
But man that M 48 would easily put em in a inch at 30 yards, way better than the light rim fire stuff, well transport 20 years and i wanted an upgrade in silent power and this is where the Air Force Condor comes in 😀 😀 😀 😀

I don’t know what CCI is smoking but there is absolutely no sound difference between the CB and quiet ammo. As a matter of fact the fps are the same and the CB ammo has 29gr vs 40gr. Anyone else try this stuff yet?
I did some recording in the range yesterday but is sounded like fucken Baghdad and after 20 rounds I took off!
D&T ROCKS! Placed the order Wednesday evening and received today! I’m heading to the range and I’ll record some vs ammo comparisons.
From what I’ve read it seems the Aguilla is very quiet but not as accurate probably due to only using primer. Dunhams, Dicks and Gander Mountain all don’t carry this ammo.
Most gun shops should have em in stock
All 3 in my area have them on hand.
If you want very quiet try the Aguilla shorts
they are very quiet but still pricey
I tested my disco today with JSB monsters and I am getting 40 FPE and SILENT at 30 yards I had around an inch group not Great on accuracy but plenty for any pesting I need
I am shooting the Jsb 18 grainers at 31 FPE for 1/2 inch 40 yard groups and the Terminator TM2 lead free are VERY accurate but the one pellet I really wanted to shoot well was Polymags which Shot gun outta my disco
Me and my buddy shoot them every now and then in a small piece of woods we have . For me at 30 yards the extra size of the round hit’s way harder than our disco’s and there a shade more silent . We both have marlin 60’s they have to be single loaded, but there fun for shooting eggs and tin cans
standard velocity are subsonic and about half as loud as high velocity rounds.

Never tried the CCI Quiet, but I like the CCI standard Velocity. You can buy them at Dick’s sporting goods or Champions choice.

After Chronying them out of my Marlin my Disco is much quieter, Much more accurate, WAY cheaper and also putting out 10 FPE more

Hello, I’ve shot a lot of different subsonic ammo in competition with a Benelli MP 95 pistol and found RWS Subsonic HP (in the blue box) to not only be very quiet but accurate as well. A little pricie but well worth it.
