Q:

.22 slug preview

The Barnes .22 slugs by Surefire Casting project is coming along. Gary has cut the mold and sent me some pictures and weights tonight. There are a number of things to be worked out before the mold gets to us to begin production but I thought you might enjoy a preview.

The small slugs are about 9mm/.354″ long and should fit into magazine fed guns, about 31gr. The largest slug is pretty close to a scaled down 9 ring and comes in at 54gr. The middle slug is 46.5gr.

Gary is still working on custom handles and sizing dies for this mold. He has reported that making these is a PITA and he’s looking at some ways to make it less so.

Hmm, looking goooood !
I currently have an 18″ in .22, so those 31&46 grainers look interesting… 😀
Also have access to a 24″ .22 for the big stuff……

It’s a good news, Jerry. I’ll wait for that 😉

Joan

jerry that is very awsome
my condor is ready and shooting well
im spitting out 25 grainers at 1000 fps
but i can def put more power there if i need to do so
lemme know…. 😉

I have a .22 BSA Ultra MS. If they fit I would like to try some also.

So is a .177 slug in the works? I have a Beeman Falcon that would spit em out pretty good. Just kidding keep up the good work.

I think my Sumatra would push them good… my Condor with Talon tank is putting out 35fpe now… a bit anemic for such large slugs… but the smaller ones may be great to use in a steroid Benji, too!

Let me know once you start production!

Mine is .25. I’ll be able to test the shorts with my Monsoon but that’s about it.

I dont recall if you had a .22 Sumatra or .25…

Mine is in .22… the slugs look great. Think I’ll hit you up for some when you start production to see if my Sumatra likes them or not.
