Q:

22 vs 25 Caliber Condor

Hey guys,

I have a 22 Caliber Condor and was thinking about upgrading to a 25 caliber barrel, but is it that much better in foot pounds of energy? There are many manufacturers that have 25 grains or heavier pellets in the 22 size. Is it really worth the investment in going to a 25 caliber? I have done the calculations on pellet weight and numbers match up very closely. Thoughts anyone?……

The first time you hear a .25 pellet hit a ground-squirrel, your going to be looking around to see if anybody heard it.

I dont have that “problem” with .22s, but I can live with that. 😆

Accuracy is about the same for me with .22s or .25s, out to 50 yards. Past that the .25 shooter has a much better time if conditions are windy.

The .25 has a much easier time delivering the killing blow. The frontal area alone is larger than almost any expanded .22 pellet. That statement doesn’t include wide-mouth hollowpoints of course, but most of those don’t shoot nearly as well as a domed pellet will. And these days, you can find those same HP pellets in .25 too.

Heres a crappy vid I made a few years ago. I shot a popcan full of water with a .25 Crow Magnum at 1050fps, maybe 25 feet away. I was zoomed in too much to make it a good show though, the result was spectacular in person.

271867 = X2

Once you’ve experienced the power these rascals have, you will wish you had done it sooner.

The .25 is as big an improvement over a .22, as a .22 is over the .117 caliber.

Just be sure you get at least a Condor valve if you own an AF rifle. A modded Condor valve is even better.

Moderators available can reduce muzzle report to near zero. Pellet impact is substantial, dependent on how hard the target is. JSB Kings rule, and Predators are now available in .25, but are expensive.

Go for the .25 cal you won’t regret it. The first time I fired one I was taking pigeons out at 100 yards easily. The pop is loud and impact are much more noticeable with this beast.

bigger hole further distance retain energy better heavier pellets with better accuracy 22cal pells that r really heavy didnt get the accuracy as the 25s the same weight thata just my thoughts on the subject also i do own both
