Q:

.22cal Edgun R3/3M Pellet Preference: 16gr or 18gr?

Does anyone have a newer R3 or 3M that prefers 16gr JSBs over the 18gr?

Just curious. It seems every review I read on the Edgun, the 18gr is what the shooter is using.

I turned the HST out 1/4 turn. I’m only estimating now but I’m hopeful the speed will be in the neighborhood of 900 for the 18 grain pellet. Maybe I’ll listen for the chime of the hammer strike and go from there. :biggrinn: Good information too guys. If I’m not going to sort pellets I need to slow them down a little, I’m certain now.
thanks!
Darryl

With indoor matches I use 16’s at 300 ms.
Today I ended up 11th. http://www.100metercrew.nl/100metercrew.nl/index.php/2015
Had no time for practise and a very busy company.
I think it does not matter, 16 or 18’s.

Regards, Robert.

Wingman explained it better than I can but in his videos he showed with the proper head size the pellet will not spiral. If your EDgun is shooting the 18.1 at 938 the 15.89 will fly at almost 1000. I have found that the BC of the 18.1 is better and it will retain it’s energy at longer range. So the 18s are better for hunting but the 16s will be accurate out to 120 yards. If you ever need to quiet the gun down you can adjust the HST to shoot the 16s at 900 and the EDgun will lose a lot of the hammer slap.

Keyser can you give us an update on your findings with the 16 grain pellet? I have a couple thousand rounds laying about, and darned if I didn’t forget to take some along the one day I could make it to a range. My EG is shooting the Jumbo Heavy at 938 fps. I’m using unsorted pellets and I recall reading somewhere here that the unsorted pellets don’t perform as well at higher speeds (higher than 890~900 fps, iirc).

Anyway, with the 16-grain pellet being shorter, why is it stable enough to be as accurate at 993 fps? What’s the latest?
thank you KS,
darryl

So are we saying 16g 5.51 are better

Here’s an old post I made about the 15.89 JSB in the Eddie

Mine will shoot the 15.89 JSB equally well.
