Q:

+24" barrel?

Would there be anything to gain besides weight and length with a .25 barrel longer than 24″?

LW said they could go up to 30″.

Cyg,
yeah they get too long to hunt, my 24″ is already too long shrouded for me to want to carry it around. 99% of my shooting is done from the Bipod, I usually just sit on the deck and wait for something or just like blowing objects away. Also my gun will be tuned by Tony so don’t know how much there will be to gain there.

there was some 25.5″ barrels available some time back….think that it was mac1 that sold them….you gain a few fps, but honestly you can get those fps with regular valve tuning as well

long rifle sucks when hunting…only good for paper plinking imho

I would also need someone to make them AF specific, not sure what that entails just that I have no machining capabilities? Sounds like stuff Walt and a few others do.

LW said they can make longer , but they need an order for five. So has anyone ever experimented with a longer than 24″, or would anyone want to besides me? Tony has my gun so if I did this I would have him tune it with the barrel because from what I understand is the valve would have to let air out longer with a longer barrel?

Can I gain anything besides length and weight? I may order the five depending on what I hear back from you guys. Hopefully they would work good enough to sell? Also once they’re made is the rifling designed for a certain length or could they be cut down?

thanks

let me do some checking but i might be able to find one at a max lenght of 36in with whatever twist u need

The longest .25 cal barrel is 24″, they don’t make them any longer than that.

Just curious. If it would give more power and I could find one I’d buy it.

What are you trying to kill?

If you miss then you can poke them to death, or stick a bayonet on the end and you’ll be able to stick anything within 30 yards 🙂

Accuracy gains…… no, if anything then a loss in accuracy because the pellet is in the barrel for longer which gives you more opportunity to pull the shot.

Huge power gains if you go long enough though

Dave
