Q:

.25 ammo selection

Here is what I am thinking of getting when I order the gun:

The JSB Exact King 25.39gr which seems to be the most highly advised to get
The Crow Magnum 26.23gr hollow point
The Eun Jin 35.8gr domed
The Eun Jin 43.2gr pointed
The H and N field target trophy 20.06gr domed
The H and N baracuda 31.02gr round nose

Any preference on what to get? I am thinking all to see what the gun likes but more of the JSB. The EJ I had lousy grouping in a 22 cal rifle I have but thought maybe try them again when I read some people had good luck when looking around online.

Thanks

Got the gun Wednesday night. Put scope on it same night and shot it on Thursday night. Friday night was even more fun. Stayed up way too late shooting it and thank goodness I live in the country. Can not believe how accurate this thing is. I can already see new shopping list starting. More pellets and a scuba tank for filling instead of waiting for the pump. Just learning this stuff still but wish I would have gotten this thing sooner. Thanks for help and this site for the info.

Thanks Rick. Will look into him now. Just seen they had the rifles back in stock last night at Pyramyd Air. Got it ordered last night and it shows shipped already today. Now like a kid at Christmas time. Been looking at them for awhile than each time I went to order one they were out of stock with long waits. Bummer. Here is what I ordered with it:

Beeman Crow Magnum .25 Cal, 26.23 Grains, Hollowpoint,
H&N Field Target Trophy .25 Cal, 20.06 Grains, Domed,
H&N Baracuda .25 Cal, 31.02 Grains, Round Nose,
Predator Polymag .25 Cal, 26 Grains, Pointed,
JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal, 25.39 Grains, Domed

See what happens. I have a mount to hold the gun in so it will not move when checking how each one groups.

Thanks again for the help

Todd,
There has been a couple of people that liked the eun jins, but I believe more that haven’t.

Jerry and I believe, his son make ringed slugs, I think Mr hollow point makes more of a bullet type slug.
You can find out about Jerry in the ‘for sale section’ at the top, I think it’s stickied there.

I’m thankful for Jerry’s quality work, they’re the only slugs that will fit in my barrel. It seems that I have a pb (powder burner) barrel
and not the typical air rifle barrel on my condor so that limits me on slug ammo.

Rick

Thanks for the info. Who is Jerry? Mr. Hollowpoint? Sorry if I don’t know. Getting into whole new area here with the Condor and learning as I go. Sounds like the EJ do not like this gun either and will just scratch them off of my list.

Thanks

Rick,

1/2′ at 50 yards is damn good. To be able to consistently get a tighter group would be exceptional.

Yeah edge I’m pretty happy with that right now. But, my groups consist of two shots starting at 2900#. They stay consistent so I don’t push it.
1/2″ groups will work fine because I’ll be hunting hog and odds are I’ll be getting one shot. The 1/2″ is fine also because the animal will be moving around anyways.

I’m very pleased and impressed with Jerry’s slugs.

But as usual it’s always nice to brag if you can do better than before 🙂

Here’s where I’m at with ammo right now. I’m not finished yet but I’ve had good results so far.

I’m shooting a .25 condor, R&L extreme valve and 24″ barrel. Shooting off of sandbags.

I just now got Jerry’s 62 gr 6 ring slugs shooting 1/2″ at 50 yds. 2900# @ pw of 5. I believe with practice I can tighten this group.
Before I started on the slugs I was doing really well with the jsb’s and I’m about to get back to them to collect data and do some 75 and 100 yd shots.
I have a few predators a friend gave me to try also.

I had high hopes on the eun jins (43 and 31’s) when I got the gun but I finally gave up on them. The best I could do with the 43 gr was 2″ groups at 50 yds and that was after I ran them through a homemade die to decrease the tail diameter. Before squeezing them down they would wear my thumb out loading them and they would be all over the page.

They’re kind of expensive, but worth it. I’ve heard the 50gr hollowpoints are accurate in the Condor.
Drop the Crowmags from your list and add Polymags. 😈
