Q:

25 cal conversion questions

I would like to build a 25 cal condor. I have a 22 cal with a talon tank presently. Will the talon valve push a 25 cal pellet? Should I get a new valve? Do I need to replace the hammer? What other parts would be required to achieve max fps and accuracy? ❓

Thanks to all. I appreciate the help. I’ll do the valve and hammer as I think that i’ll be hooked on the 25’s size and knock down power. Once again Thank for the help! This is a cool site!

I have a TalonSS and had Tony make me a 14″ .25 caliber barrel for it. I chose 14″ so it would still fit inside of the shroud, even though Tony warned it would be louder… Well, it IS a little louder… But it will chuck 31 grain Kodiaks at 760 ft/sec (39.7 fpe) with the standard Talon tank. Would that kind of performance be enough for you? :11

I’ve asked the same question and have been told by everyone including Tony that the standard valve will work just fine. It all depends on the barrel length you choose and what you want out of your Talon. You will definitely need a heavier hammer. You’ll have to ask the more experienced this question. I know Pulaskius has had great results with his 75 gram hammers and some others use 90 gram hammers. All I know is that you’ll definitely need a heavier hammer.

Thats a link to a post in which I put a .25/24″ barrel with no other mods.
I will post a more detailed shot string when the kodiaks get here.
Have to say I was impressed, for max, yeah get a heavier hammer and high flo valve, which I’ll probably do soon myself.
Have to tell ya once you look at .25 pellets .22 look like .177 did.
