Q:

25 Cal Cricket w/ Nikko Diamond 10-50×60 (Updated Pics)

I can’t decide which scope to put on. This is the third attempt. Currently it’s set-up with a Nikko Diamond for when you really want to reach out and touch something. The total weight isn’t bad and quite manageable.

These Crickets are incredibly accurate. At 50 yards it’s a no-brainer. My range goes to 75 yards right now but I’m in the process of figuring out how I want to enlarge it. I also have a 22 Cal Standard and Compact. The Compact is dynamite. I’ll post pics when I have them permanently set-up. So many decisions!

Sweet scope. I have one for field target…

Probably a bit much by most people’s standards, but i’m all about hi-mag when shooting things. 😉

Hoot – I got the cheek piece from influential friends in very low places. Uh, uh how about I found it; yeah, yeah that’s the ticket. Actually, I made it in my CNC; that’s a good one! Ok, ok the truth is, I took it off my Standard. 😀

Coda – I won’t get into why but let’s just say I know wood. When you drill wood, you should step-drill it. In-other-words, you go in first with a small diameter bit and then step-up to a larger size until you get to the desired diameter hole. Two or three sizes at the most depending on the size hole. I used three because that’s what I did. Now, the real problem with splitting the wood is partially the size of the hole. The other issue is hydraulic pressure that is created inside the hole from screwing in the mount. The hydraulic pressure is, in many cases, the culprit for cracking wood. So, you need to drill the hole through to the other side or you should drill it twice the depth of what you are screwing in. Additionally, I let the nut self tap the wood. I hope this helps.

That’s scary because I put 2 holes into my stock without any legit tools and didnt split my stock….I would have died if I did that be accident

quote Machine Gun:

I installed the Harris bipod with a swing swivel nut screwed directly into the stock. It provides enough stability, strength and offers a nice clean appearance. It is also not too obstructive when you remove the bipod.

I have been nervously waiting to install the swivel stud into the walnut stock for the bipod since someone said the gunsmith split the wood putting in a rear stud. Have any problems? Are the synthetic stocks wood? I am contemplating a long synthetic .25.

Beautiful rig….

Where did you score that cheek piece????

Octavius,

I am too lazy for clicking I guess. I use Hawke’s Chairgun Pro software and sight my scopes in at the optimal range set by Chairgun Pro (called Optimum Zero Range – 44 yards on my Cricket) under Toolbox and Zero Range Functions. Then I have a Leupold XBR-1000 laser rangefinder to use if I need some help on the range. The software lets you print a circular reticle with markings that you can size to tape into your scope cover. All Hawke reticles are supported with Chairgun Pro. I have Butler Creek flip-up covers on all of the scopes. It normally delivers the pellets vertically +- 1/2″ at 100 yards. Most of my backyard pesting is from a bench rest. I have a dead tree where the sparrows hang out a lot at 105 yards exactly. I pick them off from the bench rest at a pretty high rate once things are setup. I live in a valley and don’t get a lot of wind which makes it real nice. You would think they would learn. 😀 That reminds me I read that sparrows and starlings are listed as declining in Europe.

I have the new SR Pro reticle on the Cricket scope (8-32×56) and it is a bit different to setup than the 1/2 mil dot Hawkes but I am getting used to it. It is better for estimating windage. I dont do ranging with the scope although I probably should practice it more often than I do. I like to be right on the first shot at something. Sparrows hardly ever give me a second shot.

The Chairgun software is free and anyone can use it.

Secoda are you using reticle for shooting or clicking by turrets?
I usually use reticle with zeroed the gun for 55yeard /50m/

The Niiko w/ sunshade is a perfect fit and choice. I have been shooting sparrows right at 100 yds with my std .22 Cricket with only a max 32x scope and actually set to 24x.

Machine, how did you attach the bipod to the Synthetic Bulldog stock?

You have a very sexy setup with the Nikko…

“Owner of a few Airguns.
Ok, owner of a lot of airguns.
Ok, ok, owner of too damn many airguns!
It’s a sickness – airgunitis”

You summed it up Machine!!
