.25 cal questions
first I have to say I just bought a .25cal barrel form a member named I wont say yet. Nice guy he seams.
Now my questions are I have a modded talon ss 24 inch barrel that easley shots kodiacks .22 21 grainers 950. On seting 3. I have a costom valve I made thas an opeing of 3.88 mm and a gap of .097. Its one peace and the rifle is very accuret. Now im putting a .25 on what pellets are recomend? What fps would I get and what valve do people use and hammer weight ? Also how many shots? I normaly fill to 2500 and get 30 shots. Now what should I fill to ? My hammer wIght is 65 grams

I leave the .25 questions answered by those who have experience. Being a holiday weekend lots of guys are gone. You will get more input when they sober up.

I just do what one might call curiosity test lol.
I have 2 airforce 25 caliber 24″ barrels and One 22″ by 24 inch barrel, I have a stubby 25 caliber 12 inch and a Talon SS 12 inch barell.
The 25 grain Match Diablow Exacts 350 per tin is the one hole ammo for my 12 inch barrels. I have to use the heavy pellets for my 22 caliber 24 inch barrel, if I don’t it has the Sound Barrior Crack to it.
Now to answer some of your questions, even my SS and my Stuby with the extra weight on the Hammer form Air force web site, and instaled in my guns, Both of the 12 inch Barrels will shoot through a 2X4 at 20 Yards, with the EJ 43.2 Pellets. The guns are really amazing, in acuracy and hardly any maintanance. I use between 2700/2800 fill pressure, This morning with the 25 grain diablow at 20 yards it was a one hole shot with 9 pellets and a flyerthat cut the same hole but not exactly in. Also I have the Lazer on it and it is tuned one hole at 10 yards., And at 10 yards it isn’t pellet pickey.
I’m 2450 Feet above sea level by my GPS, and the temp is 88 Degreese(That’s also a factor in the Airgun world ) I’ve came to respect that too.
The 2X4 my Talon SS shot through today was a sawmill 2X4 untreated or Kiln dried or dressed, it was a truly 2X4. The 24 inch Barrel is not plum in the range of two time the energy But it is way up there in the Foot pounds,
Not a 100 FPDS I can’t remember the exact but it is a Hoss of a gun. The 12 inch Barrels is my pets and can manover ealsiy in the woods, and has the power of the 22 Short High Power, By conpairison, and we kill Hogs with a 22 short High Power.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t hunt Wild hogs with a 25 Air rifle, but I think with Patience it can be done, I use mine for Squirells and rabits GroundHogs and Possums, rougue Racoons ect… It’s a one shot kill.
I don’t put Photos on here although I am perfectly leagal in what I do, Someone might try to use it as a Poacher violation or use as a grudge to make it a little inconvieniant on me here.
A picture has 2 sides, so I just do as I do and do it leagal, can’t eat a squirrel with Worms so summer isn’t the time for Squirrels, so I wait till hunting season comes in and that’s when I get serious.

k sweet thanks. I had a crony but I accdently shove a kodiac threw it lol It cought the shrould. Whats a good waight . And my valve is a fully ported talon valve I made its opening is 3.88 mm with a .097 gap. Will this help u give a better I dea for waight I feel it should shote 31 grainers with no worrys. Bexause it will fling .22 eunjun 28 grains in to the 990s on setting 5. And setting 2 ill send kodiacs 950 with out worrys.
28 looks and no replys, shame on you guys. ok, lets start with pellets, beeman kodiaks, jsb exacts, h&n barracudas are pretty much the go to pellets. you’ll probably have to fill to around 28 or 2900. as for the valve , i have no idea. the hammer should be ok, but you’ll have to turn the power wheel up some is my guess. beg, borrow, or steal a chrony, if you don’t already have one. as far as how many shots you’ll get, that depends on too many variables. but, i’m guessing 20 to 30 shots if you’re starting at around 950fps. , on a 2900 psi. fill ending with 2100 psi. . don’t take that as gospel, like i said, too many variables. let us know how it all shakes out. 😀

My .25 barrels in a Condor and modded Talon shoot the heavier JSB Kings the best for tight groups out to 50 yards. Maybe be Kodiaks/Cudas second. Predators are pretty good for hunting. Although it isn’t as much of an issue in .25, the higher power guns can deform the thin skirts on lighter pellets – especially in some .22 pellets.
