.25 caliber groups and a pumpkin surprise.
I finally got some low wind conditions so I could put my new Tony Talon Tunes 18″ .25 caliber barrel on paper at 40 yards. After getting it zeroed to hit the paper I just had to see that .25 in action.
I filled up several Pepsi cans with water and while my .177 standard talon with a Condor bottle knocks them over with a loud smack with CPH’s starting out at 1080 fps … it was a kick watching the cans blast off 2-3 feet straight up in the air after being hit by a .25 caliber Kodiak launching at 910 fps 😆
These cans suffered from some serious impact !

if you use your rifle for hunting, you will soon notice that the .25 really puts a smack down on the prey.
bad shots that with .22 would have a critter flying off or crawling into its hole….now just leaves it for dead

Here is a 50 meter 5 shot group shot with Voltar1 last winter. 🙂 His 9mm hole is upper right.

Thats awesome. Nice to see you excited about your gun and caliber.
But, you are gonna need MORE than a SOFT pumpkin to stop any pellet. Even well past 100 yrds…pellets are gonna blast through that pumpkin.

Congrats on the upgrade. On a calm day, you’ll find that 100yd+ it still holds very good accuracy AND power.
Go ahead and order more pellets now or you’ll be out before you know it 😛 😈
These groups with the Kodiaks were mighty good but they don’t tell the whole story. I did some plinking down into the woods up to about 80 yards or so and the hits were quite consistent and when I had doped the elevation properly this .25 barrel would put a Kodiak on target time and time again 😀
This barrel and caliber has me excited about shooting airguns all over again … what a blast ! 😀
The Kodiaks I have are the standard ones … not the Match pellets. I was shooting them straight from the can … no weighing and segregating, no lube … nothing. The groups I got were quite impressive and I can’t wait to weigh and lube these pellets to see just how small of groups I can get.

FUN is the best way to describe this caliber ! But it was time to get down to some serious shooting. I tried Eunjins, Crow Mags, and Kodiaks for group sizes at 40 yards.
Eunjins were quite disappointing with 3+ inch groups …
Crow Mags did better with 2 inch groups …
We had a pumpkin in the yard so I put it on the stump at 40 yards so I could recover some pellets fired into it. After several shots I went down range to cut the pumpkin open and retrieve some deformed .25’s.
Much to my surprise that hard as a rock pumpkin didn’t stop the .25 ! The pellets blew straight on thru it !
