25 Caliber Velocity
I am putting an 18in barrel on my Talon Frame. I will be using a high flo tank with a Striker weight. What kind of velocity can I expect to get with say a 26 grain pellet like a Polymag Predator? Also FPE estimation.

Some interesting comments here. I went back to my 12″ .22 caliber barrel for snowshoe hares for the pot – the .25 just did too much damage on body shots for edible game.
I try to keep my shots inside 40 yards (shotgun range) because I find that a sensible range for a sure kill – I live in Prince George, and the bush is so thick in bunny terrain that if you don’t drop them right now, you might not find them if they crawl off, and I don’t have a dog. I find the Preds at about 750 fps in my 12″ barrel about right. They are accurate, too. I get 1/4″ groups at 20 yards, which is fine for base of neck or even headshots at grouse at this range.
I found the .25 Baracudas the most accurate in my Talon 18″ barrel. I don’t know what the velocity was, but I was told I’d be getting about 800 fps. It was cutting 1/4″ groups at 20 yards. Preds spread out to about 1/2″ at this range, and JSB’s were about the same. I’ve just got my hi-flo tank and a heavy hammer, so I’ll be outfitting my 2nd Talon (I have two) permanently with a .25 barrel, and buying a 3rd frame for co2 .177 shooting indoors. The additional velocity I’ll be getting with the hi-flo and heavy hammer might tighten the groups up with Preds and/or JSB Kings.

Put the BBL in along with the AF heavy weight striker

26 grains is what the Preds weigh.
Shot them through my Chrony.

That to me sounds like overkill for little birds. Might want to reserve it for bigger game. Of course, I too am SO tempted to put on a 25 cal on my TSS just so I can smack targets just a tad harder.

My barrel should be here by Monday. I already have the Hi-flo tank and Striker weight. The .25 Predators will be here as well. They are just over 26 grains.

This thing will be like shooting a 22 cal rifle, but with a piece of lead much softer with better terminal ballistics!
Where I live you can use an airgun in an urban area!

I shot a sparrow with a 22 cal ( 16 grain ) Predator with about 36FPE and it literally blew it up. The pics are in the hunting section.
I can only imagine what a 25 cal predator with over 50 FPE is going to do! Especially to a Pigeon.

I have a talon 18″ with the hiflo tank and additional weight. Jsb kings 25.4 g shoot @960 fps and 2500psi (50fpe). This thing hits like a lazer guided brick. There’s alot more power left to shoot heavier ammo like Roachcreek is doing. I also have a .22 condor with 24″ barrel, it’s a big gun to handle, the talon is better handling. The sound of the 25 hitting a target whether flesh or whatever is not “backyard freindly”. I have only shot kings so far, I cannot imagine what preds will do.
Holy Sheeet…That is with a stock Talon other than the High Flo Tank and additional Striker weight!!!! That would be almost double of my 22 cal! PW at 10-12

Just right around the speed of sound, so you might need to dial it back.
Mine is a little diffeent than you set up and probably pulling 50 to 60 FPS more, buteEvery once in a while I shoot some Kings out of my 25 LBT, which has a Airarcher valve spring retainer, spring and derlin seat, a RL valve stem and a .80 hammer spring shortend so I use the power wheel and a 95 gram hammer. I have the PW on 2 and the top hat at .70.
With the 17 inch barrel, I cut the choke off of it, I am running 1150-1175FPS/75 FPE with the Kings, which is way too fast and they don’t shoot for shit.
I have a lead cut in my barrel for cast bullets so the Kings just don’t work in my 17 inch barrel, but oddly enough I can shoot Predators, perhaps it is the plastic point that helps with the SOS threshold thing, I am not sure, but they do fly well.
