Here’s my shot string with CHP 27.3 pellets, from 3000 to 1100 psi.
(couple double loads there in the middle)
Question: Do I adjust my Pretension Spring to get more of a curve, or…
Do I adjust my hammer throw?
Incidentally, this is with Jim Gaska’s air cylinder extention and I am getting a good fourth magazine, and more, from the extension.
Now, if I can just get that bell curve to start sooner…..

Yes, the destroyer is a crumby pellet. No, there is not a .25 caliber CHP as we know it. The Benjamin/Crosaman .25 caliber, 28 grain domed pellet is a great, accurate, and hard hitting pellet. It is the closest to a .25 Csorman Premier, it’s just labled differently, (a rose by any other name is still a rose). It fits between the 25 grain King and the 31 grain Baracuda/Kodiak. You might want to give them a try in your gun and see if they work for you. Personally, I use the 25gr Kings almost exclusively. They fly straight and hit hard. They are a pretty good deal when purchased from PA with the 10% off and free shipping and the fourth tin free. I buy them 8 tins at a time…that’s 2800 pellets.
The lighter King give me faster velocity, a flatter trajectory, great accuracy, and at 25 grains, they anchor critters. I only use this caliber/pellet combination when I know for sure what my backstop is, which is usually a hillside. All of these .25’s carry alot of energy.

Tof wants to know, and so do I. Never heard of or seen a CHP at 27.3 grain.
I agree, fancy crap pellet…so what. Maybe good for a lower power gun to do max damage at 20 yards..but most suck past 40yards
Benjamin sells the “Pointed Hunting” tips.
Benjamin also sells a “Dome” tip at the same pellet weight, and are available at Pyramydair.com. I’ve read JSB in the 500 count tin are actually cheaper per pellet than the Benjamins.
I favor a domed tip. The fancy stuff, and they’ve stuck everything on the front of a pellet you can think of and charged a premium for it, just doesn’t seem to work any better than a solid hit with a dome tip.
Stick with what works. If you have sufficient FPE, the tip doesn’t matter a bit.
Predators MAY be an exception, but I’m not willing to pay a high premium to kill something in a fancy way. Dead is dead, whether the hole is 1/4″ round in diameter, or .50″ in diameter and shaped like a star. The critter still does “the dance”….

Doesn’t CHP = Crosman Hollowpoint?
Benji makes a .25 domed pellet and the .25 Destroyer pellet…a hollow point with a little pointed center..looks like a little Predator. It 27.8 grain
The destroyer does not shoot worth a crap…I suspect this it what Hoot was shooting. Why waiste good pellets for crony / shotstring work.
They are sold as Benjamin Domes. 😉

Who makes 25 cal crosman premiers? I’m looking for em
there is allot of tuning stuff around for this gun, im sure there are several that have done just what your doing. i have read up on that gun quite allot ,wanted one at one time.
seems most go for 2 clips , drilled port , heavier hammer strike at peak velocity with the curve being even
X2…Higher air fill..3100psi, or a little less hammer.

Do the BStaley Oring mod and 10lb. hammer spring. No need for a regulator esp. on a .25 cal.
that and a 10 pound hammer string did it for mine.
dont have one of those , but im sure its similar to condor as far as what you want, higher psi fill , or lower the hammer strike to lower the start of the shot count.

All but twelve or so of those shots are 40+ FPE.
It’s not so much as the number of shots, but how many meaningful 40 FPE shots can I get? A nice bell curve would even out my POI deviation and if I can get that starting fps down a bit, it might increase the number of 40 FPE shots I can get.
I’m trying to put a regulator into this bitch. It’s not easy because I have to drill that dang ambient air pressure hole between the two O-rings of the reg, and that has to be done blind with nothing but measurements.
I can’t count to “1” without starting over a couple of times. I’m a philosopher asshole….not a mathematician!!!
I may have to contact Jim Gaska and ask if he does such things.
Meanwhile, I have to adjust something to lower that bell curve starting fps. If no one knows the answer, I’ll take a guess and try one at a time.
No one ever wants to help the elderly and disabled….sniff…

The easiest way to gain more fps is to open up the metering screw. I turned, twisted, adjusted, screwed, unscrewed and tweeked on my .25. I opened up the metering screw on mine just a little and my FPS went up but shot count went to hell in a hand bag.
The only thing I found made any FPS difference without sacrificing shots was a recommendation I found on the marauder forum to bake the hammer spring at 450F for 45 minutes. This added 35FPS to the 28g Benjamin Domes for a total of 857FPS.
I sold it after about a year ago to purchase a Condor .25 and that’s how I ended up at this god forsaken forum.
Just recently I had the opportunity to install an HDD in 1oldguy2’s M Rod and that made a HUGE difference. His shot count before the HDD was about 20 Benji Domes with an SD of 7. His shot count went to 33 without a change in his SD.
May I ask what barrel you are going to use on your project? I’ve got a .22 I’m converting to a .25 and I’m unsure which barrel to use; factory, LW standard rifling or polygon.
