.25 shot string !!!!! extreme spread of 140 fps???? help….
got my pro chrono today. first i tried adjusting it and realizing that it would not stay in the range i wanted. first it was at 970 then i backed it out like 3 turns and it was at 1033 and i was very confused so i backed it out to flush and it was around 940, at this point it just kept jumping all over the place even with the slightes movement of the hammer spring screw. i got it to around 900 after about 7 mags then i cleaned my barrel and lubed my pellets with mac1. and started this shot string at 148 bar.

IS THIS NOT A CRAZY SHOT STRING?????????? i dont think my regulator is working very well? please help i must say that i have just barely over 700 shots through the gun does it just need more shots to breeak in?
seriously i am getting more and more dissapointed with kalibrgun the more i test it and shoot it 😕

So I set my reg to 53.40 mm, my valve spring is set to 2 turns I measure it to .230 of an inch. And hammer spring is set to the highest.
my fps does not drop until about 90-92 bar.
It’s easier to start high in velocity and use the hammer spring to check accuracy in the lower ranges.
From there find what speed your gun/barrel like with the pellet you’re using to get the tightest groups.
Then if you need to slow it down use a shorter/lighter hammer spring.
Adjust the Valve spring retainer in if it’s at 1/2 turn you can to lower the speed by setting to 2 turns.
Then lastly adjust the reg if it’s still not low enough.
But I won’t adjust the reg unless I was unsuccessful in getting to the velocity adjust by the above 2 ways first.

Well you know, thats what I am trying to get also.
To try a lower reg/fill pressure.
From 140-130 bar to about 115-120 bar for some to squeezed out consistency.
Some after finding out their guns got better accuracy at a slightly lower velocity.
Even lower for others that what to get the most shot count instead and lost a bit of consistency in tuning to 12 fpe to gain 200+ shot per fill.
You can’t have the best of both worlds (consistency & shot count) but there is also a happy medium/in between.
All guns will possess it’s own settings for achieving that shuttle balance.

Why do they want them detuned???!!!
I got my Cricket Standard 22 cal first in December 2013 and my Compact 177 cal later in August 2014.
I did all the necessary things I could do on the outside, but nothing to the inside until the gun had ample time to break in.
The reg played down on it’s own about 10 bars and springs from the use over time and shot count.
The accuracy improved on it’s own in about 3 tins of 500 ct pellets it was doing 1/2″ groups @ 50 yards back then.
After some 36,000+ pellets at this time it does about a 1/4″ @ 50 yards at 100 yards under an inch.
In the mean time I read up here on TAG to better myself into the preparation if anything goes wrong in the future, like a leak.
Mouths ago I rebuild the 22 cal with all new seals.
Since then I’ve been picked out to rebuild and tune 7 of my friends Crickets without a tester, so far.
Recently a couple of them came back and ask if I can detune their regulators.
So I bought a tester from dman1114 referred to me by my friend Jan/octavius it should arrive this coming Monday the first !

I hope this helps someone because this was alot more work then I thought for a 1700$ rifle including my shroud clipping.
Today I checked the highest velocity of my cricket with the reg length at 53.60. I was get 952 fps. So I pulled my reg and found out why I was getting erratic results first the reg valve seat (delrin) had a mark that could clearly be letting air through so I pulled it and resurfaced it. before putting it back in I noticed that the brass inner seal nut had backed out so much it was covering the inlet holes halfway.
After fixing these issues I did a 1/4 turn on my reg. To try to get me down to 910 fps. I put it back together and I did a 25 shot string with 7 fps (es) and 2fps (sd) :biggrinn: and my low was 908 high was 915.

Chad i make reg testers…. But… Im behind right now and the holidays really haven’t helped LOL…. so it will be a couple weeks.
Yeh if its still able to hit 1000fps… turn it down some more.
it might take you 3 or 4 times to get it. But when your really trying to hone in on a certain number it usually takes a couple times.
pull the regulator back out Mark it before moving it. that way when you pull it out again you have some sort of gauge of how much to turn it.
I would go a quarter turn.
try it then run some shots… Just put 160 – 180 bar in it. take a shot turn the hst in, take a shot turn it. You’ll get faster. and know where that sweet spot is….
reg testers are nice to know what the pressure is and to return to your pressure… but you can get away with out one.
just have some patience.. you’ll get it.
every guns acts a little different… but generally you can get away with setting the high side around 915 or so… and right around 905 it will still be pretty efficient

No its not normal…..
You should have no problems getting a nice flat string like this….. and once its off the regulator ( for this gun the reg is set at 140) it should stabilize then float down.
From your strings… It looks like the regulator is still set high.
I would turn you hammer adjuster in take a few shots (write em down ) turn it up some more couple more shots…. Make sure you keep atleast 180 bar in the gun …. just keep going 2 or 3 shots turn it up a little.
at some point the velocity will stop rising. and it will flatten. then it may even back down.. you want to keep it right at the top just at the point where the velocity starts to go flat.
that will be the best spot.
Now i would imagine the gun will probably be shooting 950s or so….
so in that case i would turn down the Regulator some more. and repeat. get it right at the point where the string flattens out. If its at 900 fps Your done….
You should have a nice flat tight string.

Is it normal to have a gradual curve going down then up again?
Is this do to the barrel just being cleaned?
I just want to say thank you to ( dman and adham) for helping me out. a little more work on the hammer spring and it will be perfect.

I’d check the accuracy at that speed and see if it’s improved.
Some Crickets I’ve seen do very well at 920 ish.
The setting for that speed for Kings is 115B reg, with the valve spring at 1 turn after contact.
The HST at about halfway in.
Without a tester if you can achieve the 920fps with the valve spring at 1 turn and HST at halfway in.
Then it will most likely that your reg will be at 115 bar ish.
If it’s set to 90 bar I’d open it about 1/8 of a turn CCW to get it to 115 bar and enjoy !
