.25 Slug Loader
A while back 80grit turned me on to some of Jerry’s 7 ring slugs. I finally got around to shooting some. They were a lot of fun to shoot,but not to much fun to load, so I made this little tool to get them started down the barrel and seated in place. A pc of aluminum and fuse clip and life just got a lot easier 😀

I made a pellet saet for cheap from stuff at the hardware store:
small clevis pin (enlarged last hole for cmall bolt)
shrink tubing
small bolt
lock washer
acorn nut
Get the smallest you can find. Insert pellet in the breach, push in the rest with the acorn nut. It flares the skirt evenly, and seats the pllet to a uniform depth to eliminate a variable. Beeman used to make a pellseat that worked similarly on my springer, but because of our lack of room, I made a right angle one. You can also put a string through another hole on the pin to keeep it handy for the field.

Thats a great idea. Ive been using a leather thimble over my thumb and it seems to work quite for relieving the pain, but getting a good seat is still far from easy.
My barrel wont fire them if I don’t get them completely flush. It took two tank dumps in a row to figure that out. LOL.
This will help on 43 grain EJ’s also, that is how I got my M1 thumb earlier this year. The breech slammed shut while trying to force those miserable things in.
Perhaps it will make a difference in how they fly perhaps not.
But it will give me something to try, shooting them and Jerry’s slugs while my thumbnail grows back. 🙄

I didn’t realize that you were using the recess opposite the clip for final seating. I think you have a good system going there! The exact depth of seating is something I don’t know enough to recommend. I expect your own experience is better than any recommendation I could offer. Being able to load the same way over and over is bound to be good though!
I wonder if a flat or some profile midway down the handle could be used to ensure uniform seating depth? I’ve always been concerned that the difficulty in loading into the rifling could lead to slugs being damaged or not loaded consistently.
The front (clip-side) gets the slug 1/2 the way in, then pulls off, flip it over and the recess in the 3rd pic pushes it too the last ring is barely bit into the rifling. Is that ok? or should the last ring be completely in the barrel? when I push them in all the way they seem to want to track in to far.
Less of a recess on the backside may put them in the perfect depth.
