Q:

.25 stealth/talon conversion

Hi guys im new to the forum and already need your advise! Ive just bought another stealth/talon which im thinking about converting to .25. Ive had a few stealths in the past and have tuned and modded them myself to a reasonably good standard, ive always regret selling them so i think im going to keep this one and spend some money making into something very special 8) i was wondering if anyone knew where the best place would be to buy all the parts needed for a .25 conversion? also what parts would i need other than obviously a barrel? any help or advice much appreciated, thanks john

J Dean, the contact info for TalonTunes is http://www.talontunes.com. Alternatively, as you are in the UK, as Velocette mentioned you can give Leupy/Drum a call at http://www.leupyscustomshop.co.uk. Both of those people are stand up guys who will be able to do you great work with great support for it.

I tried leupy and he was the guy that told me his conversions would need a new breech and top hat, also hes now using bsa barrels, not lw, which arent true .25 calibre, im sure they are 6.2mm instead of 6.35mm so any pellets need sizing before use 🙁 i think it’ll be talontunes then if they will ship to the uk? i hope so as i fancy quite a few bits on their website 8)

Some of the guys doing .25 barrels prefer to go the larger tophat and bigger ID in the breech, however it is not “required”, just a preference of the individual modder. I got my .25 from TT and it is compatible with all the stock parts. Drop in fit.[/quote]

Ok thanks for that, do you have any contact info for the guy that you got your barrel from? Ive also just been on airforce’s own website and i noticed they do a hi-flo conversion kit, what exactly is this and does it improve performance at all?

Ok thanks for that. I was told that i would also need a new breech slide and top hat by a custom tuner in the uk for a .25 conversion as the walls of the barrel would be too thin if you machined a .25 barrel down to fit a stealth .22 breech, is this right? 😕

All you need is a .25 barrel blank and someone who can machine up the bushings for it along with turning down the breech end. If you are at 12fpe then there will be no need for a heavier hammer etc.
