Q:

.25 velocity; 24" bbl vs 18" bbl

I’ve got too little experience with the AF guns so need some help here. I just got a 24″ LW .25 cal conversion but the shroud that came with it is humongous; when I stand the gun on the ground next to me, the tip of the shroud is at about eye height. Waaaaay too long. So I’ve been thinking of cutting the barrel to 18″…. I know I can expect some loss in velocity; anyone care to guess about how much I can expect to lose? I know I’ll also have to make another shroud… but it’s hard aiming a broomstick through all those tree branches when you’re in a treestand waiting for pigs. Seems like every **&E$*(!! branch wants to snag on your barrel.

Ninja is right.

Walt,

I had a .25, 24″ Blank from LW – tested it at 24″, then cut it down to several different lengths to see the velocity difference and it seemed to be a pretty steady 15 fps per inch lost – Around 90 fps from 24 to 18″.
