.257 and LDC (picture)
Here is a picture of my .257 with LDC. I had this LDC for some time now. First it was on my 24″ .251 LW, then on my 18″ .251 LW, and since it has helped me to be able to shoot in my backyard on two separate rifles I decided to give it a try on my .257. I had randy open up a barrel bushing/shroud holder to .554. I had to add a few orings over the barrel on by the crown where the baffle alignment cap goes as it was originally meant for the larger od of the .251 LW. I tried it with 6 baffles but I experienced ever so slight clipping, and it was ridiculously long with that many so I cut it back to only three baffles and solved my clipping problem and made it at least a somewhat manageable “broom stick”. Granted the 3 are not as effective as the 6 (the six where very effective), but the 3 at least allow me to shoot in the yard without spreading harmful lead dust as my kids play there and the neighbors can rest better as they are pesky “environmentalists”. It is only held in place by the one grub screw and I am quite surprised that that was enough to keep it from launching off the barrel. I will utilize the other two grub screw holes that the bushings have (I forgot what size screws they are so please advise so I can go to Ace hardware). Thanks.

I am abandoning this idea. I am thinking that the 170 fpe is too much for such a small volume. Groups are not consistent. Hoping to buy a barrel de-resonator and will play around with placement of that and heavy crown protector that Doug machined.
