.257 sizing dies
I read a lot about the sizing of 257 slugs using Lee sizing dies…but they don’t offer them. Are they all custom ordered? I just recently purchased my 257 barrel from R&L and am having RJ-Porter size some slugs for me but I would like to eventually be able to pour my own.

Still keeping my eye out for a .258 but what about a .243 and some elbow grease?
I found mine on amazon and it also shipped from Sage. They are in Jackson Ala. best I remember. They ship fast! Mine was .28 and cam ein at .2573. I used crocus cloth on a slotted dowel rod to bring it up to .2574. With very good results! 😉
I think it was 32 buck.

Mischief,
Tofasfou, Doug, RJ and myself all have ordered Lee .258 dies, they are all different sizes. Almost always undersize, but never the same.
I have shot .261 unsized bullets in my rifle, although in theory your wasting power by sizing that slug down, they worked pretty darn well unsized.
If the die is say .2566 and your groove diameter is lets say .2575, you can widen the sizing die by putting fine steel wool on a 25 caliber brush and then put 600 grit on the brush and spin it with a drill motor n the ide, checking constantly by sizing bullets as you go.
Having said all this, unless you have a expensive 4 decimal position mike or caliper, you not going to get that exact dimension.
I know I am over size on mine and I shoot sub moa at 280 yards and the 615 yard coke can is history.
Somebody did; I just went back to see if they also had a .256 die for you and the .258 has sold.
No.
Even tho they say .258 they are never that exact size.
Did you order it?
If you need a .2568, you will have to order a .256 sizing die. In fact, you might need a couple of dies if you need to end up with a .256 bullet and you plan on casting with a NOE .257 mold. My NOE .257 dropps bullets at .260-.261 and needs to be sized down to .258.
To go from a .261 to a .256, I have read that you are better off sizing down no more than a few thousandths at a time. Trying to go from a .261 to a .256 in one step is supposed to be a NO NO.
I was just throwing it out there. I have some slugs from slugging my barrel on the way to RJ as we speak. He’ll let me know what size I need. I was basically asking if that would work if I happened to need a small size slug.
Charlie beat me to the punch but, I took the time to type this and I am gonna post it! 😆

Ted is correct.
That die you found is for either a Lyman or a RCBS bullet sizer that will cost you around 150 bucks and up. It does size bullets, but it is made to pump wax lube thru the holes in the die body, something we don’t need. It is also not nearly as accurate as a Lee sizing die in that it distorts the bullet much easier.
The Lee die fits in a hand loading press, the ram fits in the shell holder.
Ok, so I’m a retard! 😎 THat’s the one I found but I forgot to include the link! 😳
So that one will work? What if I need .2568…?

Google search for Lee Precision .258″ sizing die took around 1 second to come up with the above link.
Google search is your friend! 😆
Last one in stock so; you better jump on it, since I posted the link, I bet that it will last guick!
RC, how about this???
Nope…nothing on Ebay 🙁
No it isn’t. That one is for a lubricator/sizing press. Get on lee’s website and look up their sizing dies. It will show pics of what you want.

That is a bit far to open up unless you have a lathe.
I remember someone did that once and said it was not worth the effort.
The 80 grain NOE bullet is a RanchDog design, which I was told was a design perhaps stolen from LBT.
RanchDog used to have Lee make the molds in 6 cavity molds for a 56 grain bullet, but the bands were never as precisely made as what NOE does.
It took me a while to connect the 80 grain NOE to the RanchDog designs until I was checking their site and realized it was a RanchDog design.
