2nd Oring!!!! That simple, well maybe..

I’ve been running a rubber Oring behind my tophats for some time as they do quieten the guns fractionally, whilst providing the poor man’s regulator effect that is all generally well known on this forum. It probably lessens the strain on components, particularly your tank valve, without greatly reducing foot pounds.

Now the latest tank valve / tophat combo I am running is a beast, so I am doing what I can to take the sound down further, e.g. better moderator, vented muzzle barrel bushing and hammer with slap mod, last two both on order from Tony.

This morning I thought what about doubling up on Orings?? So two rubber Orings behind the tophat instead of just one. Obviously I suspected this might be overkill etc but I must say that early tests have been fantastic. It substantially reduced the noise, more so than the first tophat Oring did, and without greatly reducing the fps, which was still roughly the same, over 900fps with 2000 psi in the tank. I have one rubber Oring, the first you slide on, very slightly lose on the tophat, and the second nice and tight and holding them both snug against the brass of the tank valve.

It has probably shaved 20 percent of the sound or so without hurting my power, and all for about 10C, now you can’t grumble with that, so I thought I have to share my finding on here. Be rude not to. :fishinghole:

Now trying nylon spacer rubber Oring combos to try and find the sweetspot. Its a lot of messing around, but that’s why I like airforce guns. I’m also drilling holes in the undersie of the gun under the foregrip in my quest for less decibels. If anyone has tips on controlling the sound without simply detuning the gun then please share them with me. :fishinghole:
