I will make this one short.

here is a 3 shot – 51 yrd – .750″ or 3/4″ group, from the haley.

Just kidding, he’ll use those up and come begging for more…. 🙄
If they are the flatnose version, I’ve seen firsthand what those .308 slugs will do to a JackRabbit shot from a DAQ. It’s pretty nasty!
Dude! you can’t send Rob bullets for free! My boys have bullets for his DAQ no matter what power he tunes it to!

rob,
nope, nothing but the roundballs. the twist rate is made for roundballs at 1-22″. i have shot some 80 gr and 93 grain and some 102 grainers and they just don’t shoot very well group wise. but i could easily hit a jack with them for sure. MINUTE OF RABBIT someone once called it. 😆
rob, email me your addy again please, i wanna send you some bullets to shoot out of your .308 DAQ. I have no use for them.
Looks great… was shooting mine today and almost beat that group… I did a 5 shot group that measured 1 1/4 at 50 yards.
Have you found anything other than the .310 RB that groups well for you? I’ve tried several smaller bullets in the 70-80gr range and they dont seem to do as well for me as the RB’s.
Now in my DAQ, the 70-80gr bullets do fine at 140fpe… the Haley gun just dont seem to like them. They do ok for hunting accuracy out to 30 yards, but much beyond that they tend to spread out a bit.
well, i will have to go get some numbers for ya. retuned it last week and only did a few shots over the chrony. but i know its a few at least. but i will thoroughly chrony her for ya.
how many of those 900 fps shots do you get out of that one inch tube?
well, i don’t how to be politically correct but,
1st off, thanx for the compliments guys and the haleys are nice guns. i would buy another one, but i would have to go through it thoroughly. i don’t mind cause i am a tuner/tinkerer.
2nd, the haleys need some work. INTERNALLY. and i mean elbow grease. they shoot great from haley himself but, once you open them up, which obviously no one has done but me and rob, there are some….well….hummm….how do i say it…..errrrrrr…..issues. now, nothing that would keep the gun from shooting but there are issues that need to be resolved in the gun before it is just filled, shot, then refilled, then shot, the refilled, the shot, then stored….etc etc. i will leave it at that.
the reason why i retuned her a couple of times is that jack got the gun to shoot as HIGH as he has ever before which was at max, 820 fps with 45 gr roundball. i wanted between 850-900 fps. when i first tuned her for a little more fps i was seeing 920-930 fps with a steady drop in fps after every shot. the gun still wasn’t to my expectations (MY TUNING AND NOT JH”S TUNING). i then shot a 1″ group and i knew i could do better.
well, i knew i could do better so i opened her up again and was getting 950-960 fps and had seen 975 fps at most 😯 . the problem there was that the gun was hard to cock, much like the ubber powerful DAQ’s except my QB is of the forward cocking design. much like a true qb. so i opened her up again to lighten things (spring compression) up and too also drop fps. well, after lots more elbow grease and smoothing things out properly, the gun now cocks like a stock QB (ok, ok, ok, just a little harder) except it is now shooting around 900 fps with the 45 gr roundballs and is butter smooth when it fires. kinda like my rapid. no really, its firing cycle is as smooth as my rapid and thats pretty damned good to say the least.
so that why i had to retune. jacks guns are good for the money.
hell, maybe HE can be the DAQ of QB’s and i can be the Big bore Bob tuner for him…
That’s a Great looking group 😀
Looks good… But I do like that background more !
Looks like like a good jack killin machine.
What exactly are you having trouble with? You mentioned tuning and retuning, whats going on?
I have heard only good things about Haley rifles. You make this one sound not so..
I’d say it is now a Tofazfou rifle, using the Haley as the starting point.
Glad to see you got it grouping proper!
Looking good Tofazfou.
