.30 caliber for Condor
Does anyone know of a drop in .30 or even .303 barrel for a Condor? I have a .25 with RL extreme valve, otherwise stock. I am really thinking I would like to shoot the JSB .30 pellets. I have a sam yang recluse and an airforce Texan that cover my bigger cal needs. How do you think the gun would shoot as is now with a .30 barrel? Also interested in .308 either from the condor platform or Texan. For now shooting the .30 pellets around 950 to 1000 fps would make the condor a really usable mid level gun for me. Ya know that it seems like this would be a great practical intermediate project to practice and refine those home machinist/ gunsmithing skills on…. A modest basic rifle in .30 JSB pellet could be do-able excuse to clear off and put my lathe back to use…
Oh I know, I know, I know I know,,,, the realities haunt me though! I know I have too many other more lofty incomplete projects and so much more important tasks taking my time to really consider this but when do I ever listen?
Well Doug, whadya think? Maybe you could remotely direct such a project? My thought would be to keep it simple. A TJ liner for JSB? I cut the barrel, turn it down and crown it. Then possibly utilize a Airforce breech and just open up the bore of the breech and regroove the oring seats. Maybe a stock or highflow AF valve or even a extreme valve with TT one piece tophat or possibly fabricate a new .30 tophat to match the breech. Make some new bushings and Ta-da!!!! Not such an overwhelming project that could take too much more than an attentive weekend????? Would that work and be worthwhile?
The thing is too,,, I live not far from Chino, maybe if Yote purchased 2x the material we could double up and do two of them and he can kinda hang out and help along if he wants. A learning experience that might be practical . .. he would get his and I get mines,,, pretty painless for each other? Just a brainstorm and not promising anything. It could be a big failure or not even worhtwhile without all of Dougs attention to highly customized detail such as his precise valving and regulator stuff too…

Dyotat , I found a list from tj barrels. There’s a 30 with I think .308 grooves. It says barrel OD is 1\2″. I measured the condor barrel about 19\32″. So would it be as simple as a couple new bushings for the half inch barrel and custom end cap diameter? if so do you make these or suggest someone who does? What is the exact barrel and twist you’ve got?
Thanks. I had heard of TJ barrel liners but couldn’t remember the name. How much machine work to get that barrel in a .25 Condor? All specific info would be great as I’m assuming its not just a swap in/out. Are you shooting the JSB 30 or cast bullets? I live up in the high desert but work in Chino so maybe you can help if you offer those kind of services. I really want to shoot the JSB 30’s accurately. You say regulated? as in regulated pressure for each shot? If so how’d you do that. Very interested!

I have a .30 condor. I shot it at EBR last year. It is regged at 1600 psi. Shoots 45 gr at around 900 fps.
The TJ barrel works real good.

I have a 22 inched 9mm barrel with bushings and many types of 9mm molds from 120 to 190 grains. I don’t have a work in breech anymore and am tempted to get a .257 barrel in exchange for my 9mm.
