Q:

.30 Cricket LW barrel 50Y @ 25Y shot group

Had only 1 hour to kill, to test 5 tuned AG so its going to be a quick one, this is a 50y in door range and the targets are just hanging with no hard back stop so the holes are kind of rip. after 75 shots or so to get use to the recoil and shot cycle—this is my best 6 shot group, have the CF tank connected so don’t have to worry about going of the reg. knowing the regulator has a fast recovery time of 5 seconds so took the shots 15-20 second between shot. the 50 grain shoot the best out of the 3 pellet tested. the red dot is 1″ for a hunting AG the accuracy is great in my opinion.

After shooting the 50Y went to 25Y 6 shot group, just to test the barrel alignment. Wish I brought a tin plywood as a back stop, with this large pellet its not making a pretty round hole.

Not sure you can really complain about that…

its only a slight recoil/push, not kicking like a rim fire.

Had some cops shooting high power rifle to the left of me, just have to wait till he shoot first.

Yes, sound like a 22lr with no shroud, Neil already made one and Steve is sending it. didn’t were hearing protection in a small shied when crony testing, so wasn’t that bad.

I notes the accuracy going down hill after 100 rounds or so, can’t clean barrel in the range and pretty sure it lead build up, look like I’m going to polish the whole rifling length of barrel with 50,000 grit diamond past.

Here in the same hour I shot this 5 shot group .30 smooth twist barrel I polish using the same lapping past. the smooth twist barrel also like the 50grain the best.

Very impressive, Ernest. Especially since the size of the pellet takes up a good portion of that group size. You’re showing fine accuracy there already, so potential accuracy must be even greater. 😯 That group, after under an hour’s worth of “getting use to” the recoil, etc., is surprisingly precise. Have you determined the optimal fps range?

You mention recoil, is the pellet exiting the barrel before any internal vibration/shock which might cause issues with the rest material?

I tape targets to old pizza boxes for a quick mount. 😆

That indoor range is fantastic! Clean, professionally-designed.

Just curious, was the .30 dangerously loud without a moderator/shroud; i.e. is hearing protection advised?
