.308 Sledgehammer project complete
All Replies
I am using 140 grain pure lead, the best I could get with that weight is 880 FPS.
I think I can get more, playing with spring values and valve timing.
what kind of power is it making ?
I have been getting PMs from members asking if I wanted to sell my 308 project gun. My answer has been no.
It did get me to thinking, if there was enough interest, I might make a few copies and put them up for sale.
I have not kept track of what it cost me to make the first, but I’m going to guess that it would turn out to be at least $1,000.00 USD per copy.
At that price or a little more, would there be interest?
I would not take any money until I had completed, tested and had something ready to ship. I would also provide the test results before taking any payment. The testing would be for function and power, I’m not sure of a great way to test for accuracy, if I can come up with a repeatable method, I would do that.
That sound fair?
So is there any interest?
Then let me know.
This would probably be a one time thing for me, I am retired and really do not have an interest in getting into anything full time. To many honey do’s on my list. 😀
If you need more than that what the hell are you aiming at??lol
I like the way you think! 😉 🙂
I want a .308 condor dammit! lol
That should put a hurting on anything!
Nice custom build but I am interested in uping the anti on my .22 condor I do not care if it is two shots per tank full of air!
Thanks, I prefer no gas check.
Thanks

Photos please.
Nice build! Man from scratch!!!!
If you need slugs in the 112-120 range out of pure lead, let me know. Timmy makes those at a fair price and they work great out of my .308 Condor.
BTW, I am ordering the pressure cutoff you put on your Shoebox tomorrow.

I was using 140 grain pure lead for most of the testing, the best I could get with that weight is 880 FPS. I have ordered some lighter hollow point pure lead, can not wait to see how those work out.
I think you will love the pressure switch set up, I think it is the best money I have spent in a long while. It shuts off at the same pressure every time. I no long watch the compressor while filling, just listen for it to shut off and go disconnect the tank.
Thanks everyone for the comments.
