34mm scope on matador
Anyone have a 34mm bush mounted on there matador? Was ordering a 6×24 ffp bush and got a smoking deal on a 3.5×21 so I’m going with it instead. However, I don’t have mounts for it. I’ve currently got a accushot 4×16 mounted on med rings and its just perfect for me. I didn’t realy have the money for the upgrade but couldn’t pass it up so Im looking for 34mm rings that won’t break the bank. Shoud I stick with the med rings or do I need to jump to the high rings for some reason? The accushot on it now is a 56mm objective and the new one will only be 50 so that part isn’t an issue. P.s. I’ll have an etched glass accushot 4x16x56 for sale in a few days…

You guys are geniuses. It just doesn’t seam right but I tried moving my scope forward like some you have commented on. It takes a little while to gt used to, but it works pretty well. I haven’t actually pulled the trigger on the 3.5×21 yet cause the added price of the mounts has caused me to wait on another overtime check. Should be ordering it tomorrow or Tuesday. I gotta go with the millet rings for now. I can’t afford the scope and $130 rings. I can always upgrade that part later if needed. Better than going with lesser scope. If I could find a deal on a pst with the ebr2 reticle, I’d probably go that route but I’m not even sure they are actually selling them yet. Site says coming soon.
Speaking of 34mm scopes on Edguns, I decided to swap scopes around and shoot a couple of hundred pellets again with this setup to remind me why I didn’t like it the first time… great scope for sure in the right application but just a little *too* big for the Edgun. :biggrinn:

Love the S&B 5-25 on the Edgun for strictly target shooting from prone or from a bench– not so hot on it for offhand & positions and really not ideal for super-close critter shots inside of 25Y because of the limited FOV at the bottom end of the magnification, makes it more difficult to find the target and also much easier to lose it should it move.
However, I am considering picking up an S&B 3-20 to try on the Edgun… it’s smaller & lighter than the 5-25 and since it goes all the way down to 3x without tunneling it has a much wider FOV on the bottom end for the “inside the barn” shots at night. (The 5-25 tunnels from 5x to 7.5x, so you don’t gain any additional FOV by dialing down below 7.5x.) Unfortunately S&B just jacked their prices by 12%-15% across the entire lineup for 2014, the price of the 3-20 went up $400 compared to last year. Ugh.

The HDMRs I have goes great on my Cricket and Bobcat. The weight isn’t much of a issue for me. But next time I need a new scope I will be looking hard at that Leupold

The issue for me with the DMR is the weight that was most concerning for my needs. I evaluated it as well.
Not to steal the OP thunder but – For me, I also like to get behind the rifle like I would drive a standard rifle. I feel like with it mounted further back – I’m craning my neck to come up with a position that allows me to properly generate a sight picture. This setup lets me use the .920″ rings and drop cheek bone to action for solid – consistent weld and sighting. I tend to be further forward on the rifle with this setup, where my cheek bone anchors just ahead of the breech loading port (I can feel the front mounting bolt clearance hole). Rifle balances well and sight picture is clear from 18x to 3x without head shifting to make it work regardless of AOA on the rifle.
I’m a little concerned with the durability of the rail way out front with this setup causing POI changes but I’ll shoot it this weekend and see what we have.

That Leupold looks great on it. Good choice going with that. The HDMR is a great scope but it is bigger then the Leupold.
The SWFA 3-15 is a good little scope, the 6Y parallax is great to have for air rifle use. I currently run a Bushnell 3-12 x 44 FFP G2DMR and have a Bushnell 3-12 x 44 LRHS on preorder to try, should be here around mid to late April. A few months ago I tried the SWFA 3-15 and while I liked it overall the more versatile G2DMR reticle of the Bushnell won out over the Mil-Quad of the SWFA. At one point I had 9 SWFA 5-20HDs in my inventory and tried one on the Edgun– it was great except for shots closer than 25Y as it only had 35Y minimum parallax and focus and parallax were both lacking for some of those 8-10Y “inside the barn” shots at night even dialed down at 5X. The SWFA 5-20HD is one of my favorite “bang for the buck” scopes being you can pick them up in used but like new condition for about $1000-1100 but I couldn’t make myself leave it on the air rifle given the limitations with the <25Y shots.
Much like ITBVolks, the eyepiece of the scope on my Edgun starts right about where the rail starts. I shouldered the gun, closed my eyes, and put my head where it was comfortable. Then I opened my eyes to get an idea of head placement for scope ring height and scope forwards/backwards. Ended up with Signature Zee mediums (0.81″ to scope centerline, the mag ring on the scope nearly hits the rail) and the ocular housing of the scope starts right about where the rail begins. The setup is extremely comfy for me and I get a positive and repeatable cheekweld– which in the end is what really matters.
Not for me…I couldn’t have my head soo far back on the gun…the beginning of my scope starts were the rail begins…and I use ultra high mounting rings because anything lowers would have my head tilted to the side over the gun to look through the scope….
I like to have my shoulder mounted correctly like I would a regular long rifle….
With the bullpups rifles to me it makes you shoot a little weird.. Which is why I push my scope war forward so I don’t feel like I’m pushing my shoulder forward to have my cheek rest were it should…(if that makes sense at all)
I’m afraid the 96 would be too low for me and I’d be stuck with the scope too far forward. I’m going to take some measurement when I get home, but I think I’m going with the med. I prefer to have my cheek to be right abut where the multishot disengage lever. A short as those scopes are, I’m not sure the med will alow the front bell the clear the rail.
Most are much closer to the breach.
What are the shiny metal parts at the barrel end..and where the barrel shroud screws in?
That’s a Leup mk6 3-18. Eye relief is 4+” and it’s set perfectly. I can drop in behind the eye box at 18x just in front of the breech for cheek weld and it’s dead on…
Shiny parts are a NC shroud. Spun aluminum collars.

It’s about time people started to step up their scope game on here! I have the same scope on my AR and I love it. I opted to go for the SWFA FFP 3×15 for my Edgun since the parallax focuses down to 6 meters. I also went with the Seekins Precision scope rings, except I went with the 1.26″ height. The scope rings are slightly too high for me, but I think the 0.96″ might be slightly too low for me. If I were to order them again, I would probably purchase the 0.96″ rings.
I use the barter system with my wife. I buy – she matches. 😆
Since it was my money to start with, I don’t consider it prostitution. I’d rather get a mouth full now than an ear full for the 20 fucking years.

Yes. Yes I am. I’m not fucking around anymore. I’ve got one of the best rifles on earth, it will soon have a great scope, and ive learned to shot off my car lid instead of a card table for better stability. so if I still can’t group well, I’ll know its me for sure and just move the targets in a little closer and pretend I’m happy. :rofl:
Not bad considering I started with a benji npXL and accushot 3×12 18 months ago and I only give myself a few bucks a week to play with.lets just say “the colonel” was in town last nite, my face is sore, and the wife had a great day 😆

Well I dicked around to long and they sold the 34mm 3.5×20 so I had to get a 6x24x50 with the g2 reticle. It doesn’t have the glass that’s as good as the other one but its still great scope for me. And its 30mm so its going to save me about $400 total. Bushnell outlet is awsome!! If your RNA you get another 10% discount.
